Legal setback for Sadhguru as Isha Foundation loses case in Madras High Court over ₹2.5 crore phone bill

The Madras High Court rejected Isha Foundation’s appeal in its dispute with telecom company BSNL over a huge phone bill. The court ordered a fresh (new) arbitration for the ₹2.5 crore bill because the first arbitrator wrongly decided the case without proper expert help. BSNL had presented very high international call records (much higher than Isha’s usual ₹20,000 monthly bills), and the court said technical experts are needed to check if the calls were real or due to hacking.

Woman ends life on Isha Yoga Centre premises

A woman reportedly ended her life on the premises of Isha Yoga Centre here on Monday (June 22).

The police identified the deceased as Malarvizhi (45), a native of Madathupatty in Tirunelveli district.

The woman, who worked as a librarian in a private medical college in Cuddalore district and had been living separately from her husband for the last three years, had visited the Isha Yoga Centre on Monday morning.

The police had learnt that she had visited her parents in Tirunelveli and informed them about her intention to resign her job and return home before boarding a train to Coimbatore.

Malarvizhi was reportedly found dead in a restroom by the housekeeping staff later in the day.

A medical team rushed to the spot by the Alandurai police team determined her death. The body was shifted to Coimbatore Medical College Hospital for post-mortem examination.

The Alandurai police registered a case under Section 194 BNSS.

Sadhguru’s Isha Foundation in USA, through an affiliate, is preparing a Rural TEA-designated EB-5 investment offering to fund the development of Isha School and a golf course at Isha Yogic City in Tennessee. The project requires an $800,000 investment and provides a pathway to a U.S. Green Card for the investor, spouse, and children under 21, with USCIS Regional Center oversight. Terms include a target principal return in ∼5 years plus 2 years contingency and a 0.25% annual preferred return, with capital remaining at risk and not guaranteed.
