When is an offer fatally “insulting”?

When speaking with an EA recently about an offer we had just made we were offered the oddest feedback:

Essentially, that if we offered any less than X then the sellers would feel insulted and would not wish to deal with us anymore, even if we then increased.

At which point my mind was slightly blown.

Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Is it acceptable to refuse redacted statements because software cannot handle them?

All.

We are to-be tenants, in the middle of financial referencing.

After much digging I have uncovered that the reason the third-party referencing org is insisting upon unredacted bank statements is that the software used to assess authenticity cannot deal with redaction.

Anyone argued against such successfully?

Experience and pointers gratefully received.

BST Hyde Park - Getting Home

Advice from those who’ve done all this before please.

Will be getting a pick-up back from the show.

Is it best for us to walk to Paddington and have our pick-up there? We are going West.

Thanks, All! 🙏

Are EA actually bothered about rentals?

Context.

The other day, we arrived for a morning viewing appointment of a pretty large family house in a leafy suburb on the outskirts of a large market town. (That is - not something you can do a two minute scan of; and not a small amount of rent!)

After about ten minutes into our viewing the EA remarked that she had another viewing to get to and could we please hurry up!

Is this typical of people’s experiences? Quite frankly, we like the house but don’t particularly want to give this person commission as she was pretty awful throughout.

Update: And a comment here reminds me:

What is it with rentals and there being no floor plans? It’s frankly lazy as it’s a five min job these days with a phone to get something passable.

If there was no stamp duty for downsizing, who here would?

Hi All.

Having read a few articles recently, all of which have presented stamp duty as major blocker to the (usually) older generation downsizing/rightsizing, I wondered just how much substance there is to this view.

If you are in the right demographic I’d love to hear from the horses mouth what really motivates you not to move and whether stamp duty is that big a blocker.

Artificial / “Astro” Turf with children AND pets

Advice please.

We are a young family with twin toddlers and two dogs.

We have a need to temporarily relocate (rent) near family and are being presented with an option which is causing us to be torn.

The property itself can be made to work, but the outside garden is artificial turf and for multiple reasons - heat (paws, feet), health/hygiene, and not even knowing whether our dogs will use the turf, we see it as a big risk on several fronts, especially as the period will be over summer.

I’m seeking advice from any family here who has (or has had) the same set up. Are we worrying for nothing? Or, equally, has anyone here found they had to remove artificial turf for these very reasons?

Many thanks in advance. Grateful for all advice and shared experience.

Context: B2B SaaS Enterprise

Roadmaps as a means to communicate cross-functionally "this is what we're intending to build (and why), and in this order" are still deemed by many as having (at least some) value.

But, increasingly, I have colleagues questioning the last part.

Why "in this order"? "Can we not do everything at once?".

The old argument of course was typically around limited human resource, based on limited budgets etc., etc.

But with increased awareness around code automation and the use of (potentially, unbounded) "agents", colleagues are (perhaps, justifiably) starting to challenge the accepted norms.

I wondered how reflective this is of others' experience and how you are responding to similar?
