First and foremost, the story was very enjoyable especially Asat Pramad. His background as “Enroute” and “Isee,” his twisted plan to “save” Aha and my two favorite moments: Asat Pramad planting seeds of dreams on young Himeko about the trailblaze and when he explained that he hesitated to shoot down the reborn Astral Express not because of his past as a Navigator but because it would be crueler to crush Himeko’s dreams later on were magnificent. I understand that at the time being, 4.4’s story hasn’t concluded and my post would most likely age like milkshake.

Still, a few major gripes that bothered me:

Welt was underutilized for the millionth time

For a character that has so much potential especially his unique connection with Himeko, he genuinely felt like he had ten lines MAX. Cutscene wise he is back to standing and kneeling poses like usual, a downgrade from the last version where for the second time since launch that he DID something onscreen, those being: landing a melee attack on Asat Pramad and teleporting Yao Guang to safety. On the brink of defeat he wasn’t even shown to do any action regarding Himeko, even though she was one of his major reasons being there in the first place with Void Archives (unless they retconned alien space.)

Cutscenes being way too short

I understand animation is expensive but I’d genuinely trade all the short cutscenes with great animation for long standard quality cutscenes. Genshin at present for example has 3 minute cutscenes with good quality which is more immersive than short bits of 20 second animation with the occasional animated picture.

Storytelling elements that break immersion

Lastly, characters are still standing still and doing the same poses. The conversation between Asat Pramad and Himeko at the beginning being the prime example of it. Theres a disconnect to what you see versus what you hear and it doesn’t do any justice to the VAs who give to all in voicing their characters. There is also the interplanar jump mini game being used as a medium for story telling that I am not much of a fan of, I do understand and like certain aspects of it though.
