His design aged like milk and I'm glad it's getting noticed.

I really am glad people are noticing how out of date Wolverine is. He was designed as a tank buster, but all tanks since launch have had a way to get around his capabilities, counter, or escape from his claws.

It seems that Bucky, Elsa, Punisher, and some other poke if played in certain ways can be better tank busters than Wolve. Which means it's time for a change up IMO, whether it be taking that niche away or applying what he needs to thrive instead of drown in his current state.

Phoenix Warrior is gone guys (The scary teamup), he isn't even THAT type of guy anymore. So I'm wanting to know if we can agree to properly buffing him or reworking him to be up to S10 standards when it comes around in about a month just before the Wolverine game.

The current issue is that he's countered too easily. Poke counters Brawl, Wolve is Brawl. While Dive also attacks much faster and can bully him pretty easily. He's one of the least picked characters, and has one of the lowest WR's in the game currently and has been this way consistently for awhile.

We do NOT want to make Wolve busted, cause that's an issue. But we also cant ignore the fact he's in one of the WORST positions in the game currently, so it's just time for others to notice how bad it's gotten for him.

I made a concept a little while back and would appreciate if anyone would check it out to give feedback on ideas to implement for him. His kit is good, as we all know, but he's weak. So if we can make him less dependent on his team then it would fit the character properly and help his playstyle immensely.

I'm tired of the Niche life of Wolverine. (dramatic ahh)

He was playable a year and a half ago. He was playable 14 months ago. He hasn't been playable for a year now and it shows in the hot picks. Consistently 8th least or lower picked on his best seasons since S3.5 with a negative WR since S2 (I think). He cant have such a low pick rate and a negative WR, it has to be like what Storm or Mantis has where the WR can be high enough to not justify change.

The reason why he's been trash is cause of Phoenix Warrior, which was removed in 8.5 but Wolve still hasn't gotten a real buff. Plus, Wolve's Last Legendary was S1 which is behind the pass that no one can currently get.

The Wolve Sub rn is agreeing or questioning the Tank/high elo/pro statue quo of Wolve is A or S tier due to the fact that Wolve has been C tier consistently for multiple seasons- Which reflect in his pick rate and win rate.

I want a change. I was that juicy rework so tanks cant claim he's broken. I need that % lowered by a chunk and his base up to punish DPS and Supports instead.

But instead theres only a thought; hope. https://www.reddit.com/r/marvelrivals/s/PcIXI1OdFb

What other hate clubs are there/should exist?

What other hate clubs you guys think should exist cause I swear every time I check out a Strategist sub or a Duelist sub they talk about changes and say the most absurd things 90% of the time for buffs or nerfs- I just glanced at a White Fox post (ew AoA) and they were talking about giving her 10%+ more healing, lowering CD's for abilities like TP and the BC team-up, and making her faster in melee form..

I mainly just wanted to know if you guys ever got this feeling from a post and thought if there was a hate club to that character as well

Wolverine Rework concept - Open to thoughts

This was from my comment I made on a post in r/WolverineMains where I was told I should make a post about it so I figured I'd drop it here as well.
I would like to know what people think about it, as it's a massive change to his numbers and potentially a good change to his gameplay loop depending on how it works. You can skip to the larger gap to where I start with the changes since I know some of y'all don't wanna read a rant and this wont get a TLDR.

My issue can start from the design idea as he's supposed the "Tank Buster". But characters like Bucky, and most hitscan do as much damage as he does to half the tanks and live longer due to being 40m away with more capable cc and crit hit potential. He's received like what feels like drip fed buffs for the last year just so he doesn't fall too far behind, but Tanks are just not what he should be solely focused on.

I'll mention some reasoning below, but this is just off the top of my head as to what drastic thing they could do that would make his gameplay more viable imo of this season. That being said, I wanted a Rework to his numbers and how he usually played, so I threw it together - it's a crazy hail mary imo and if I'm honest, I'd just like to see how people feel about it.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Savage Claw (Primary):
Keep the current intervals.
Range; 4.5m (Currently 3.5 while DareDevil is 4.5).
35 damage per strike, highest of 4% of max health (Not sure on overall numbers for this, but likely healthier for game instead of 15 base damage with 7.2% damage of Max HP as it eases Tank bullying.)

Vicious Rampage (Dash):
2 charges, 4 - 5 second CD, 25% damage reduction only during ability.
Damage change from 15 to 25 with 5% damage of enemy Max HP.
Distance change from 7.5m to 6.5m.
Vicious Rampage goes through enemies now.

Undying Animal (Howl):
Duration remains 5s, CD remains 16s,
Damage reduction stays at 40%.
Change; Gains 50 Overshield (maybe just 25.) , Unstoppable effect added.

(I'm a bit messy with the Feral Leap description here)
Feral Leap (Grab):
No CD change.
Damage lowered from 35 to 30 on both grab and crash.
Berserker state strikes from 5.88/s to 4.5/s with 15% damage reduction.
Damage change removed (Doing primary damage instead of 8) and range from 3.5 to 4 (Ik his primary is 4.5).
Duration of Berserker State from 5s to 4s.
Change angle of leap to be less Vertical and more Horizontal, allowing for easier grabs while traveling similar distances.
Move grab hitbox from the waist to the chest and increase it by 0.2m.

*NEW and not ever getting added* Fever Crash (Y'all choose a better name ong):
Charge a dash that travels 4m that knocks back enemies with little damage, kicking one enemy at the end of the 4m dash upward with a .25 second cc that would work into Feral Leap.
Charge dash damage is 10, and kick damage would be 25. (like launch up kick in old MvC games)
17s CD.

Berserker Rage:
Grant 3% Attack Speed increase, and 5% Damage reduction at 100 Rage (Or just 10% reduction without attack speed increase).
Total % based damage (mentioned earlier) capped at 4% for Savage Claw, and 5% for Vicious Rampage (Dash), Feral leap % damage changed to be same as Savage Claw at 4%.

*Primary was max of 7.2%, while Feral Leap was 4.5%. Both are lowered to 4%, but base damage can balance this out relatively fairly*.

100 health, 275 Regen shields. Or, Reworked "Regenerative Healing Factor" to heal outside of combat for 15 health a second.
Rage will not be depleted to 0 if Healing Factor is used, instead it will be dropped to 25 with a 3s of damage reduction of 25%. (Damage reductions do not stack, highest chosen over others though)
Cooldown of Regenerative Healing Factor changed from 90 to 70 with the CD Reduction decreasing to 8.

New Passives (likely only picking two if they ever did):
Some noisy ahh Wall climb.
Animalistic Senses: Able to track the path of someone; a trail appears where an enemy walked 2 seconds after disappearing from LOS, this trail is only visible for 4 seconds after they leave LOS (trying for something similar to Blade and Punishers passives in it's own way).
Adamantium skull; 1.75x crit hit instead of full 2x.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The numbers for damage is from 7.2% with 15 damage doing 33 damage to 250, but the change would make it 4% with 35 damage doing 45 damage to 250. The base damage to % damage scaling would likely help his fight against mid health characters from Fantastic to lower health tanks a bit more than it already is.

I don't want Wolve to be a tank bully anymore, it was fun a year ago when he was genuinely viable but he just isn't unless you play against people that don't know how he even works and that kinda sucks now too.
His niche is cool, but it holds his utility and capability back entirely from working coherently with how he should work - snatch and isolate would be easier, and if a White Fox Teleports to who you isolated then you'd have that second dash to put distance so you had value for a displacement instead of a trade with you distracting 2 just to return to spawn.

The % damage is hard to really make work since I haven't done the math, but I do know that you'd do about 12 more damage baseline to 250 and 275 HP characters on average than the current numbers while gaining some more reduction so he can brawl with DPS and Tanks instead of folding over by either due to the harsh power creep he wasn't able to be apart of - If anything, maybe more damage. But It'd have to be tested before that happens.

My reasoning isn't exactly clear, but I would want drastic change so Wolve can feel a bit more brawlish instead of getting folded each fight if not pocketed by a support or sneaking around and hoping you don't run into a DD or two people that were a bit farther from the enemy team.

This was just one I threw together as a concept, but I'd like to hear a change to this rework or if he just needs something else done instead.

Edit: I made a post about his damage numbers before, so I'll let you understand how bad he was for health of the game especially against tanks.

Despite being picked a low amount, and having a negative WR, we get a near nothing burger buff. Just put the fries in the bag, Zhyiong.

Just don't play Wolverine

Wolverine feels weak 80% of the games he's played in and has a negative WR in almost every rank below Eternity.

https://preview.redd.it/gybgutia7fhh1.png?width=1307&format=png&auto=webp&s=29b0dc3be15b9223ccee14824adc9bf91926ee5d

We asked for Regenerative Health, some help against CC, Survivability, anything to help his QoL gameplay but for some reason they just want to lean into his damage. I don't mind his damage, I want him to do LESS damage to Vanguards and MORE damage to squishies, but they don't seem to understand how to balance Wolverine. They even showed Wolv being killed by The Hood in his trailer, which just sounds a bit funny till you realize The Hood has 2 or 3 direct counters to Wolv. Blinding, intangibility, and being able to Strange hop out of the area. Plus he's a Ranged character, which means he's going to likely win most fights against Wolv with his ability lineup.

I COULD be wrong, but I doubt it heavily.

What do you think Wolv should've got as a Buff?

reddit.com
u/VisitReasonable7285 — 16 days ago

Ban her till it's done.

Gotta remember to consistently ban Luna till she gets nerfed, cause "Zhyiong notices these things"

Go above and beyond to learn characters to target Luna, which is difficult since she's basically the top DPS with stuns, self sustain, self damage buff, and near unkillable ult.. But yeah, ban her till she finally gets noticed and hope for the best.

What do we think about the Damage and Sustain?

Asking cause I feel like I'm a bit elsewhere with my idea of his sustain and damage so I wanted to know what others thought about it

Should it be less % damage due to tank deficit and more base damage so he doesn't struggle as much against lower Max HP enemies?

Should he get a Adamantium passive where he receives less damage (or at least crit hit)?

Could they ever drag his grab hitbox up from his waist to his arms?

To me, it's just weird how they made his design unique just to eventually phase him out with characters that can do what he does. Deadpool has a better Regen, Thor has a second life now, Angela is just more ideal for stealing kills, most DPS do so much more damage (especially hitscan) that they can match a 100% Rage Wolv against tanks at this point- Just a question if they should soft rework his kit to be more balance friendly so when he DOES eventually get stronger then it isn't permaban

Do y'all think he's gonna get a good change up when Marvel's Wolverine drops, or might it be a rework to fit the character better?

Wolverine is S+ Tier to some, S Tier to others, and A tier to most that don't play him apparently. Can anyone tell me how this character they want to claim is a good, if not meta pick? The only positive win rate is in Eternity, but the highest rank he played in he lost. I know it doesn't gather info from private accounts, but at what point is Wolverine just gonna get a rework to be a playable character? He's either meta ban cause people don't like the thought of % damage even though it usually doesn't work against the enemy team or he gets powercrept by 60% of the roster and the other 40% is already strong projectile characters that 2 headshots that do as much damage as Wolv does to tanks under 650 hp.

Wolverine is picked least STILL but they wont release a patch note to give him a buff? Luna kept her buggy ahh team-up ability but our Cyclops team-up practically gets nerfed if he gets selected? Gambit team-up says 25 healing over 5 seconds but gives 118 health instead of 125? I love the game for how it feels, I can get behind hitscan being strong with easy outs if attacked, I can understand Supports being able to fight people off, but my issue comes when some characters just made weaker for no reason. Rogue was just fine last season, but every game I played was horrible with her. If I was Rogue then I had to change my playstyle to straight up be a mid-line backup instead of a tank, and if someone else was Rogue they would swap after the third death cause her sustain is horrid. Same issue with Wolv, could be a good character, but they just degrade what they have instead of propping it up any little bit.

Healing team-up has a wrong description for it's healing. "Regenerative Healing Factor" on Rivals details of character is somehow always wrong. I drag my whole body against someone like I was paid for something just to not grab anyone, while if I put my back against them then I can grab. I have more questions than comprehension with this game right now and no one could ever help me understand why a pillar of Marvel is so consistently weak in Rivals.

4k diff from least played to second least, and a 8k to the next.

I got Wolverine's primary numbers wrong before, so lmk if these are wrong this time.

I made a post talking about Wolverine's damage and was wrong on the specific %. I said it was 6% of max hp while it was 7.2%, which is a numerical change that I couldn't just make an edit for.

I don't like being wrong, but I hate lying to people that thought the same as me- especially when the Rivals details suck at explaining.

https://preview.redd.it/szd7x6t5qvch1.png?width=1329&format=png&auto=webp&s=71c6f2ed8d051941af14f42f72d4369dcc9a6251

I dunno about anyone else but the wording for this makes it hard to understand, or I just have dyslexia. The Rivals site has been extremely outdated, even with this season according to some people, and it shows pretty well like last season when his team-up with Cyclops was named "Phoenix Warrior"

So these are the numbers I got, if any are wrong please let me know so I can change it.

(Primary) Savage Claw - Base Damage 15 + 1.2% Max Health

HP - 1 Hit - Combo (4 hits before long interval)

250 33 132

275 34.8 139.2

300 36.6 146.4

325 38.4 153.6

350 40.2 160.8

375 42 168

400 43.8 175.2

425 45.6 182.4

450 47.4 189.6

475 49.2 196.8

500 51 204

525 52.8 211.2

550 54.6 218.4

575 56.4 225.6

600 58.2 232.8

625 60 240

650 61.8 247.2

675 63.6 254.4

700 65.4 261.6

725 67.2 268.8

750 69 276

775 70.8 283.2

800 72.6 290.4

825 74.4 297.6

850 76.2 304.8

I probably wont make one on his Berserker Rage cause it's a lot harder to figure out but usually it's just as effective on lower HP targets as the primary, if not more effective using Vicious Rampage to continue the combo.

Also, Rivals Details for Wolverine's "Regenerative Healing Factor" is wrong now. It WAS a 12s reduction, then got shadow nerfed to be 10s. Now it's reverted back to 12s, and was never changed on the site. I dunno why they need to keep touching these, let alone doing it without showing it on the balance patches.

Anything else to add, or if I'm wrong on the numbers, I'm willing to change them in an edit.

It only heals for 118?

When testing the Gambit team-up with Wolverine I noticed that the enhanced team-up isn't even healing for the full 125 that it should. As it lasts for 5s and heals for 25/s, it should be a total of 125 like characters with regenerative shields. But while testing in Practice range I realized it only healed for 117 or 118 instead. I don't understand how we can keep on nerfing the state of Wolverine at this point, he's the least played character in the game according to Meta https://rivalsmeta.com/characters by almost 1600 matches. He's one of the few characters I genuinely had fun on, even transferring my will to play over to Cap and Hulk isn't fun this season since there's just too much going on with the overtuned characters they just buffed Like Cyclops, Jean, and buffing Widow when it isn't what Widow mains wanted. While they nerfed others like Ultron, Iron Man, Mantis, and Psylocke when it was the team-ups that made them broken.

I genuinely believe they don't know how to balance this game anymore, even though it was a known fact they didn't know what they were doing a year ago when S3 dropped and still haven't grown from the mistakes they made. At this point just bring back OG Phoenix Warrior at the least and leave Wolv in the alleyway, cause only then will he have a chance to fight in a group fight without being exploded.

Wolverine Damage is just weak in comparison

https://preview.redd.it/m14gwrlplnch1.png?width=2343&format=png&auto=webp&s=fd7bc3419cdf2cd0f81bfa55186764085f941539

I made a comment talking about this so i just copied the numbers here for others to understand the numeric value of Wolverine's damage and how weak it is in comparison to characters that got good buffs this season with their abilities

I put it through a calculator using 15 + 6% of max health numbers, which can be expanded on with bonus health as it acts as the total max health just as regenerative shields should

225 = 28.5
250 = 30
275 = 31.5
300 = 33
325 = 34.5
350 = 36
375 = 37.5
400 = 39
425 = 40.5
450 = 42
475 = 43.5
500 = 45
525 = 46.5
550 = 48
575 = 49.5
600 = 51
625 = 52.5
650 = 54
675 = 55.5
700 = 57
725 = 58.5
750 = 60
775 = 61.5
800 = 63
825 = 64.5
850 = 66
1350 (Dino Ult) = 96
1500 (Monster Hulk) = 105
1720 (Venom Symbiotic Resilience) = 118.2

Cant try Venom's ult as it would be disingenuous since I don't know the highest total due to the % possibilities

Remember that Wolv's Vicious Rampage (Dash) does the same amount of damage as his primary, which helps him in his combos

I was thinking of doing one of Feral leap but its numbers are complicated- 6 damage + 6% max health. Not really worth talking about, but the base combo with 4 strikes on primary + dash can do as much damage if not more damage to some characters

If you have anything to add then it would be appreciated.

Wolverine got a shadow nerf to his "regen" from 12 second cd reduction to 10

Starlord and Thor have better versions of his passive as team ups imo

Gambit's teamup with Wolv is weaker than the regen rate of a 150 health character which has shield regen that works at 30/s in comparison to the character with a healing factor that does 25/s through a teamup

Deadpool has a better healing factor, Thor can be revived by Hela and has a one time revive that has a baseline 50 second cd which is 40 seconds faster than Wolv's, for some reason Thor the BRAWLER character has regen shields but Wolv cant have a normal healing factor or regen shields..

Blade has 350 hp now so Wolv's anti-tank niche has been effectively replaced in a sort of way by multiple characters

Am I tweaking or do they genuinely just hate us at this point? We could've gotten self regen since S1 with Invis or got a rework or teamup with Deadpool to get a normal regen but didn't. Widow got reworked and Widow mains dont like it- So are they suddenly scared of touching a character to make him broken? This is one of the first times since the start of S3 that Wolv has had a positive Win rate

reddit.com
u/VisitReasonable7285 — 1 month ago

What're they doing with Wolverine at this point? (MY RANT)

So back in S4 or 5 Wolv got a shadow buff to inflict antiheal to the target he crashed on with his ult but it was recently taken out of the game in S7 if I'm right.. It was never even documented in the balance notes or the fandom notes for character changes which I find really weird

Can we also take into account that they kept changing his base kit for no reason while adding characters that would progressively be better than him and counter him outright?
Even the changes to his % was hit or miss since they changed the max % damage just to increase the individual strike for his % damage- which looks like a headache to read but it makes sense if you read it for yourself.

Bro got so many changes just to be balanced.. only for them to release Blade (which wasn't an issue) and Jean (Which was an issue for him) and to follow that with Angela and DD. It's like they decided to just hate him from then on since that was when I realized he had antiheal on his ult landing in his weakest season
But now he's just weak in comparison to other characters due to how aggressive they with putting out broken characters.
As much as I like playing Wolv, he isn't fun if his grab works a third of the time. It isn't worth it if my ult throws people above me, or if i do manage to line it up then there's a chance my drill doesn't even hit them.
There's so much potential with Wolverine but they just decide to not bother with a soft rework with his passive to be like DP's healing factor or just general fixes for his abilities to work effectively at all

https://marvelrivals.fandom.com/wiki/Wolverine/Balance_Changes

Edit: I forgot one more thing.. his S0 Team up still doesn't have an anchor season bonus. Nearly all supports have a team up that is just an extra ability that doesn't require another person to interact with you and is a natural value gain. But Wolv needs someone that is slightly competent, and no bonus. DPS anchors get a % of either extra health or damage, Tank gets extra health usually, and Support gets extra healing.. Why not have literally anything for Wolv though?

EDIT TWO: I hear that Wolv never had Antiheal and I'm fine with saying that I might've just been schizo then. Never was in a live match when I think I made that discovery that never existed- was in Practice range by myself but even then it's been long enough that I might've just forgotten entirely
