Konekt sizing

I want to pull the trigger on a pair of HF3s but my local Pure Hockey doesn’t have them in stock. I used the 3D scanner and it said I’m a size 9, but my current Bauer skates are a size 10. Any thoughts on which one I should order?

New delivery

These guys just came in from Xenopus Express. 2 wild type (male and female), 1 albino male, and one albino reticulated female. I let my two kids name them, which yielded some interesting results. Their names are Oreo, Audrey, Banana, and Claude.

And, no, Claude is not a play on “clawed frog” or a French joke. My kid is not that clever. He just liked the name.

Reinforcing Floor for Massive Fish Tank

Has anyone had to reinforce a floor?

I want to install an 800 gallon aquarium system on my first floor. A structural engineer advises me that this is feasible but requires a good bit of work. I’ll have to sister a few joists and install a steel post anchored to a concrete footing in my basement.

I’m not sure how big of a project this is or how much it will cost. If anyone has experience or insights I’m all ears.

ETA: I have a pretty good handle on how big of a project the aquarium itself is. I was more interested in hearing about people’s experiences of having done similar reinforcement projects.

Reinforcing Floor for Massive Fish Tank

I am strongly considering installing a massive (approximately 800 gallon) aquarium on the first floor of my 1972 wood framed house. The system will weigh 5-6 tons and will occupy approximately 34 square feet. That is, it’ll be really, really heavy.

I have engaged a structural engineer who advises that this is feasible if I install a new footing and steel post to support an existing steel beam and sister two 2x12 joists. The joists are easily accessible through the basement below.

I paid $750 for the initial consultation with the engineer. Before I shell out more for detailed plans, I want to get the roughest ballpark on this. Is this a $3K project or a $30k+ project? Thanks so much.
