So for the last two weeks I’ve been dealing with an LSIL diagnosis. My colposcopy/ECC came back benign and they did not see any lesions, which is reassuring, but what’s stressing me out is that HPV testing is often not routinely done for women under 25.
Here’s my situation: can I still have sex with my husband? He told me he’s been tested recently, but I still feel uncomfortable because I genuinely do not know whether I have HPV or not. I understand LSIL is commonly associated with HPV, but without an actual confirmed HPV test result, I feel confused and anxious.
I also don’t want to risk spreading something to him if I do have it, and I don’t really understand how couples are supposed to navigate intimacy in situations like this. Has anyone else gone through something similar
I’m 22 and recently had an abnormal Pap result showing LSIL. My doctor sent me for a colposcopy, and during the procedure they said they didn’t see any lesions or abnormal vascular patterns, so no biopsy was taken. They did an ECC instead, and the pathology result came back “benign fragments of endocervix.”
What’s confusing me is that they discussed HPV with me and recommended the HPV vaccine, but I don’t actually see a confirmed HPV-positive result anywhere in my records. I know LSIL is commonly associated with HPV, but I’m struggling with the uncertainty of whether I actually have it or not.
I’ve honestly been really anxious about this whole situation and overthinking every detail. Has anyone else had LSIL with a reassuring colposcopy/ECC and no confirmed HPV test result? What ended up happening in your case?
I spoke to my PCP and was told that women under the age of 25 aren’t actually tested for HPV!
None of this makes sense to me.
