So I made adding PS1 games to the PlayStation Classic as easy as scanning a QR code.

Download the mod (PSC Store) here: https://github.com/hampter-mods/pscstore-release/releases

Hi guys.

This will probably be the last update for a long while.

I’ve been spending an enormous amount of time and effort on this app. Probably over half a year has passed combining testing, programming, and edge-case handling of both the Disc Launcher and PSC Store.

This latest update, v1.7.3, makes adding external source download links much easier. All you need is your phone to scan the QR code and add your download links for your PS1 games in your browser. The .TSV file still exists, and you can still edit it manually in the root of the USB (if you dare), but a lot of people commented saying they didn’t understand it, so I wanted to make it easier while keeping a balance between copyright and convenience.

It’s still the user’s discretion whether they enable External Sources and add their own download links for PS1 game titles.

For those who saw the version of the app that could scrape download sources, the reason I removed it is that it relies on those sources staying up, which, as we know, sadly isn’t always the case. It also changes the conversation around my app’s responsibility for piracy when it links directly to a source, even if I didn’t host it per se.

I wanted an app that I could maintain, one that could help preserve these games and stay available for many people maintaining their PS Classic consoles for years to come. I also wanted to provide much easier and more convenient access to the huge number of great games in the PS1 library, something that is much harder when dealing with the aging Project Eris desktop app and game database management, especially when you start thinking about importing your own physical discs, managing multi-disc games, and LibCrypt.

PSC Store solves all of that with disc importing using external disc drives, multi-disc installation management, built-in LibCrypt patching, and even the Disc Launcher, letting you play your physical discs directly. All of this can be done without needing your computer (other than the initial installation) and without ever touching a single .bin/.cue, .m3u, .sbi, .ini, or .pcsx file.

For those wondering about a PSC Store AutoBleem release, while AutoBleem is great in its own right (as kernel modification is optional and can work without it), modifying scripts, function files, and binaries is a lot more uniform on Project Eris, especially since it keeps the original PS Classic UI fully intact. Everyone has the exact same file structure on Project Eris, which makes it much easier to provide a consistent and reliable experience, as not everyone mods the kernel on AutoBleem, which locks you out of Wi-Fi and networking support.

Although core PSC Store features like search, the library manager, and favorites could be ported to a version for AutoBleem, or perhaps a stepping-stone version that unlocks all PSC Store features when you mod AutoBleem’s kernel, doing that for an entirely different kernel, hooks, scripts, and environment setup is probably not worth it.

Or perhaps the community could help me on that one. I could provide the C source code for anyone worthy of going down that path, but let me know your thoughts on that one.

I still have future plans for the app, like many of you guys’ requests for the ability to transfer games between USB and Internal storage, perhaps on-device game compression, and working out .CHD support to launch PS1 titles directly in the carousel. There’s also the much-requested AutoBleem support and other improvements, like the ability to manually reorder games in the USB/Internal lists, manually change the game ID slot, measure playtime with the stock or the non-RetroArch standalone PCSX emulator, and download other .MOD files for Project Eris (from here: https://github.com/Jetup13/PlayStation-Classic-Wiki/releases/tag/Backup).

In addition, I’d like to add the ability to download PS1 game cheats for RetroArch and the standalone PCSX emulator, as well as RetroArch shaders and other emulator and PS1 emulator cores for RetroArch.

But until then, I hope you guys take care and enjoy this app that I have built. It’s not crazy or anything; the ability to emulate and conveniently enjoy PS1 games is as ubiquitous as emulating NES games nowadays, with the advent of various emulators for PC and phone, abundant handheld consoles from Anbernic and Steam Deck, and FPGA recreations like those from Retro Remake. But it does add much-needed functionality back to this little mini console.

It was certainly my pleasure, and I enjoyed working through all the bugs, even if it was excruciating with such limited hardware. I would love to see your guys’ thoughts, videos, or tutorials, or have you send me any bugs or issues you find over in the GitHub issues section:
https://github.com/hampter-mods/pscstore-release/issues

And while I won’t be actively pushing big features for a while, I’ll still patch any issues, minor features, and support any new homebrew titles that come out for PS1. There were still a few that I missed, like Yume Nikki, that I’ll be sure to add.

Over on my YouTube channel, though, TechArc, I’m planning a few more detailed tutorials and walkthroughs, especially around direct physical disc playback and disc importing with external disc drives, as well as extended tutorials and deep dives into extensive PS Classic mods, like adding a tiny little fan and new heatsinks to keep it cool, internal USB hubs, the USB expansion port for easy disc drive connection, internal Wi-Fi/Bluetooth/8BitDo adapters, and adding a microSD card slot.

So don’t think your PS Classic is useless or a paperweight just yet. My app, and my dedication to improving the experience, will help ensure that you continue to enjoy your retro games for years to come.

Anyway, enough yap. Thank you guys so much, and enjoy.

PSC Store external sources tutorial: adding a homebrew game

If you haven't all ready, download for the PSC Store for Project Eris here: https://github.com/hampter-mods/pscstore-release/releases

I made a short tutorial showing how to add an external source to PSC Store using Fromage (https://chenthread.asie.pl/fromage/), a single-disc PS1 homebrew game, as the example.

The tutorial only covers the simple single-disc case. For multi-disc games, or games that use serial aliases/nonstandard boot serials, you need to add the correct disc_serial values for each disc. The generated TSV file includes notes for those cases, so follow the instructions in the file if your setup is more complex.

External source URLs must be HTTPS.

Sources must be PS1 .bin/.cue CD image downloads; .chd, .pkg, and .iso sources will not work.

You can also edit the TSV file by unplugging your Project Eris USB from your console and edit the file from the root of the USB on a computer.

Quick reminder: External Sources are disabled by default. PSC Store does not include, host, recommend, scrape, or maintain download sources. It only uses entries that you personally add to your TSV file.

Please use your own discretion and make sure anything you add is legal for you to use in your region.

PSC Store Update 1.7.2 is out now! - homebrew support, easier external source management

If you haven't all ready, download for the PSC Store for Project Eris here: https://github.com/hampter-mods/pscstore-release/releases

Existing users can update through PSC Store’s built-in updater.

PSC Store 1.7.2 has been released.

This update is focused mostly on making PS1 homebrew easier to manage through PSC Store, while also cleaning up attribution and simplifying external source setup.

What’s new:

  • Added homebrew game entries to the PSC Store database.
  • Added cover art for supported homebrew entries.
  • Added dedicated homebrew cover-art attribution in the app/docs.
  • Added support for direct .bin external sources. If a source only provides a .bin, PSC Store can now generate the matching .cue sheet automatically.
  • Added a USB install fallback for games with nonstandard boot names or serial aliases.
  • Simplified ps1_external_sources.tsv: for most single-disc games, you only need main_serial and an HTTPS direct download URL.
  • Multi-disc source rows no longer need a disc number. PSC Store can resolve disc order from known disc serials.
  • Updated the Content Notice, Credits & References, README, and NOTICE files to better document homebrew metadata and cover-art attribution.
  • Update manifests no longer track runtime TLS trust PEM files that are managed on-console.

As always, External Sources are optional and user-provided. PSC Store does not include download links by default, and users are responsible for making sure any content they add is lawful for them to use.

[For those who missed it] PSC Store for PS Classic is Now Available – A Modern PS1 Library Manager for Project Eris

Download it here - https://github.com/hampter-mods/pscstore-release/releases

Hey everyone,

Just wanted to do a quick follow-up to let you all know that PSC Store is now officially released and ready for use!

If you missed the earlier announcement, this project turns your aging PS Classic into a powerful modern hub for managing your PS1 library — all while staying fully on-console and under your control.

What PSC Store Does:

  • Browse and favourite games with cover arts
  • Search/filter by title, serial, region, genre, developer, publisher, year, players
  • Manage USB/internal games
  • Track real playtime & view recent sessions
  • Backup/restore saves
  • Import your original PS1 game discs with an external disc drive and install them
  • Playback discs directly using the disc launcher and an external disc drive
  • Install PS1 games from external sources using WiFi

Key Features:

  • Fully compatible with Project Eris
  • No bundled copyrighted content — all game data comes from your existing setup or user-provided sources
  • Optional external source support is disabled by default; when enabled, it generates a blank TSV file for you to define lawful sources
  • Built-in updater uses signed manifests over HTTPS
  • Clear content notices and responsible usage guidelines

Go ahead and give PSC Store a try yourself! If you'd like to share screenshots or tutorials of how you're using it, submit feature requests, or report any bugs/issues, please do so in the GitHub issues section: https://github.com/hampter-mods/pscstore-release/issues. I'm planning an update soon that will add support for downloading homebrew games directly over WiFi from great sources like https://www.psxhomebrewgames.com/, so your feedback will help shape the future of this project!

More information and screenshots can be found on GitHub:

PSC Store is out now: breathe new life into your PlayStation Classic!

Download here - https://github.com/hampter-mods/pscstore-release/releases

Hey everyone, quick follow-up to my earlier PSC Store posts.

First, sorry to anyone who saw the earlier release post before I pulled it. The app did not include any copyrighted games, BIOS files, ROMs, or disc images, but that first public build had built-in logic for a specific third-party external source. After thinking it through more carefully, I decided that was not the right way to release it.

PSC Store has now been reworked so it no longer ships with any built-in external game source or scraper. External Sources are disabled by default, and if you choose to enable them, PSC Store generates a blank TSV template so you can provide your own lawful source entries. Without that file, PSC Store still works as a PS Classic library manager, disc launcher, save manager, playtime tracker, search/browser, and install management hub.

PSC Store is now ready for release as a .MOD installer for PS Classic users running Project Eris. It’s designed to turn the aging mini console into a modern PS1 library hub while keeping everything on-console and under your control.

With PSC Store you can browse the game database with covers, search and filter by title, serial, region, genre, developer, publisher, year, and players, manage USB/internal games, track real playtime, view recent sessions, back up and restore saves, import your own physical PS1 discs, and use the built-in PS1 Game Disc launcher for direct physical-disc playback.

The public updater uses signed manifests over strict HTTPS, the README includes screenshots/install notes/credits/license notices, and the app now has clearer content notices around External Sources, physical-disc import, and user responsibility.

Content Notice

PSC Store is a library management tool for Project Eris. Optional physical-disc and user-provided source workflows help manage content you supply yourself.

Game database details and cover art are read from the metadata already provided by the preexisting Project Eris setup. PSC Store's bundled database is a lightly adjusted version of that same database, changed only to add the PS1 Game Disc entry and tighten genre metadata.

PSC Store does not host, bundle, mirror, store, or include copyrighted games, BIOS files, ROMs, or disc images.

PSC Store does not include external source links by default.

PSC Store does not provide, recommend, host, scrape, or maintain game download sources.

When External Sources is enabled, PSC Store creates a blank source TSV file in the root of your Project Eris USB:

/ps1_external_sources.tsv

Add your own lawful source entries to that file. PSC Store will only request external downloads from entries you provide.

LibCrypt compatibility, when needed, is handled locally with the on-device patcher where possible for preservation purposes. PSC Store does not retrieve SBI files.

External sources are not owned, operated, controlled, verified, or endorsed by PSC Store or its creator.

Physical-disc import and PS1 Game Disc features are intended only for your own original discs and locally supplied content.

PSC Store is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Sony Interactive Entertainment, Project Eris, or ModMyClassic. All names, trademarks, and content remain the property of their respective owners.

You are responsible for making sure any content you download, import from disc, replace, or play is legally permitted for you to use in your region.

External Sources is disabled by default. By enabling it or continuing, you accept responsibility for your content choices.

Notes

  • Project Eris is required.
  • Networking is optional for local features, but required for external sources, app update checks, and reliable playtime/time sync.
  • External Sources is opt-in, disabled by default, and does nothing unless you enable it and add your own lawful source entries to the blank TSV file PSC Store generates.
  • Keep Project Eris SSH access on trusted local networks only. Do not expose the console's SSH service to public or untrusted networks.
  • PSC Store modifies Project Eris/PS Classic files; use at your own risk.
  • Keep backups of important saves before changing storage layouts or uninstalling entries.

Would love feedback, bug reports, and suggestions from anyone who tries it.
