About a month ago I fell for a really dumb phishing scam. I got invited to a shoddy discord server that wanted me to "authenticate" my xbox account. It sent a Microsoft recovery verification code to my email and i pasted that code into a fake "xbox" discord bot.

Within an hour *as i'm gaming* I looked at my Xbox gamebar and see a notification that it couldn't sign into my Microsoft Store account. At that point I knew I had been duped.

I sign out and sign back into my Microsoft account. On the surface it didn't look compromised, but i changed the password just to be sure. Then when I sign into Xbox it asks me to create a new gamertag. Where did my old profile go? No idea.

I appeal to Microsoft support and they assure me that your Xbox profile can't be separated from your Microsoft account. Yet here I am, with my xbox profile that has 2000+ hours of gaming progress just vanished.

It's been a month with Microsoft support and so far I can't even get them to understand my dilemma. All they do is tell me to fill out a form to recover my Microsoft account when I already have my account. Where do I even go from here? I swear to you it's been an entire month calling and emailing Microsoft and so far they don't even understand my premise yet. They can't tell me which email is linked to the gamertag. I'm stuck.
