Day 8 : Waiting to Hear Back, Anyone Else?

Applied on the careers website: July 27
Got the interview email: August 7
Interviewed: August 10

I walked out of the interview feeling confident — nothing in the conversation suggested I wouldn’t get the job. The hiring manager mentioned they’re hiring for the last quarter and that I’d hear back by Monday (Aug 17). Monday came and went, and I haven’t heard anything yet.

I’m documenting the Tesla hiring process and would love to hear from others who’ve interviewed there:

Were you ghosted, or did you get a rejection email?
How long did it take them to follow up after the interview?

I’m planning to move on and assume it’s a no if I don’t hear anything by next Monday (Aug 24). Thanks for any insight!

Day 9

For about 18 months, I took Xanax every day. At my highest dose, I was taking up to 4 mg daily. What started as something that seemed to help eventually became something that completely changed me.
I began taking Xanax because it made me feel productive. It helped me sleep, reduced my anxiety, and for a while, it made me feel like a normal version of myself. In the beginning, it felt like I had finally found something that worked.
Over time, though, everything changed.
Instead of feeling motivated, I became emotionally numb and flat. Things that once excited me no longer brought me joy. I lost interest in my goals, my hobbies, and even the things that once gave my life meaning. I wasn’t just treating anxiety anymore—I felt like I was losing myself. Eventually, I became depressed.
When I realized I needed to stop, I started tapering my dose. I went from taking 2 mg a day (1 mg in the morning and 1 mg at night) down to 0.5 mg in the morning and 0.5 mg at night before stopping. About a week after quitting, I relapsed once. It reminded me how difficult this process can be, but I got back on track and continued moving forward.
Today, I am 10 days completely off Xanax.
These past 10 days have been some of the hardest of my life. Getting normal sleep has been a real struggle, and when I don’t sleep, my thoughts become overwhelmingly negative. I’ve experienced major anxiety, hopelessness, suicidal thoughts, and severe brain fog that makes it difficult to think clearly or feel like myself. Thankfully, I have not experienced any seizures.
I’m sharing my story because I’m looking for answers and hoping to connect with people who have gone through something similar. If you’ve experienced this, I’d really like to know what helped you. Did your sleep eventually return to normal? Did the emotional numbness, anxiety, depression, and brain fog improve? How long did it take before you started feeling like yourself again?
I know everyone’s recovery is different, but hearing other people’s experiences gives me hope that this is temporary. Right now, I’m taking things one day at a time and doing my best to stay committed to recovery. Any advice, encouragement, or personal experiences would mean a lot to me.
