Starting a wood elf army, could use some help with list building.
So, I've been slowly collecting some wood elf boxes in the past years, scouring FLGSs for good discounts and I came up with these
1x Wood elf battalion (112 euro)
1x Battle march (67 euro)
2x outcast spitegrove battlefroce (103 euro each).
I would like to make a 2000pt mixed elf-and-tree list and then maybe smaller lists that are more themed (a shooting agility list), (a Talsyn list with some eternal guard and ambushing dryads) and a full tree list for fun.
Now I have tallied the potential models that can be built
1x Araloth, Lord of Talsyn
40x Glade guard / Wildwood rangers / Deepwood scouts
30x Wildwood Rangers / Eternal guard
20x Wild Riders / Sisters of the thorn
4x Glade riders
from the trees:
40x dryads
30 spite revenants / Tree revenants - I will use tree revenants as blade dancers, trimming the excess branches and use spite revenants to kitbash branchwraiths, nymhs etc)
1x Treeman
1x Treemen ancients
1x converted drycha to treeman (I'll keep the other as a display piece)
Now I intend on making some heros by canibalizing and kitbashing. A mounted spellsinger made out of a sister of a thorn perhaps. or, perhaps a mounted Glade lord on an elven steed with the head and mask of the wildwood ranger champion.
This is a bit daunting so to anyone that had experience. Can I make meaningul units that can be used in a versatile manner? For example, I have 30 windwood rangers/ eternal guard. Could I split them in a fashion that both units will not then be crippled and useless? (say 10 wildwood rangers and 15 eternal guard (too few for a rank unit??).
Give me an idea on how would you build these sprues, if not for total versatility, then for a decently strong and thematic list that you'd enjoy to play.
Assume you are free to kitbash any possible infantry or mounted hero you need.
Go Ham!
P.S I will be plugging any possible gaps with specialist models like eagles later, but I dont want to spend more money right now and would like to make armies that come from this pool work. I don't play in competitive settings but would like to have fun and not get stomped. Thanks!
