Hybrid Training and Recovery as a Night Shift Worker

I’m after some tips for how I can optimise my training whilst working a mix of a day and night shifts. I will often finish work at 6:00am after a night shift, have a few days off, then be back at 6:00am for a day shift. I tend to give myself 4 hours of sleep after my last night shift, then have an early night so my body and brain can go back to day mode. However, I am aware of the negative impacts of reduced sleep and having an irregular sleep pattern. Is anyone else in a similar situation and be happy to share what you do? I currently do resistance training 4x a week and run 3x a week. However, I am fairly new to running (started in December), and I think it is since starting running that I have been more concerned about having optimal recovery due to the increased demand I am putting on my body.

FIFO Experience

I am a paramedic from the UK and have recently been considering a move to Australia. By the time I would want to move, I would have been qualified for 3.5-4 years. I would like to try a different role within paramedicine, and I am wondering what it is like working as a FIFO paramedic. Does anyone have any experience that they would be happy to share? Thank you!

Hey! I am planning to solo travel in Canada in June next year as part of a longer trip that will finish in Patagonia. I am after some advice on the logistics of solo travel in Canada. I am into nature and hiking, and I am thinking of focusing my time (3-4 weeks) on going from Vancouver to Calgary and exploring the sights in between. What would be the most budget-friendly way of doing this? I have considered vehicle relocations, but it seems the options for them are not released until a few weeks prior. The limited available hostels seem really expensive, so I am leaning towards sleeping in a vehicle. Is it easy enough to find campsites, as I believe I would not be able to sleep in supermarket car parks or in places that are not designated campsites? Any advice is very much appreciated - thank you!
