Hey there, are there any places in Canada where I can rent a 125ccm motorcycle?

So I plan on doing my small motorcycle license and would like to go to canada at some point and ride around nature. Maybe you all have a suggestion where (like specific stores and such) it is definitely possible to rent a 125ccm motorcycle with the in Austria A1 / B111 licence (which is basically class 6). Does anyone have some places where this is possible?

Calgary to Montana - Washington - Vancouver RV Rental Suggestions

My partner and I are driving through Alberta to see family and want to end up taking the US route to Vancouver where we will fly back to Australia. We want to rent an RV but I have heard mixed things about IndieCampers and wanted to know if anyone had suggestions?

It is just the two of us and we will just be parking in campsites / wherever, so we don't necessarily need a huge one.

Things for a Michigander to do in Canada?

My girlfriend and I are planning to celebrate our anniversary over there, but I have no clue where to even start. I would ideally like to go a little deeper into the territory and am leaning towards more nature based stuff, but we're open to any suggestions. Coming straight over from Detroit, so that would be the starting location.

Has anyone here driven across Canada without smartphones?

Thinking of doing this, for the fun of it, and wondering how hard it'd be. Nova Scotia to BC, October. Would appreciate any tips or advice.

edit: lol, didn’t expect so much snark. I’m actually at the age where I grew up without smartphones too. Just never did such a big drive without one, that’s all.

Canada: Oakville, ON -> St. John's, NL; by car; July 12 - July 26.

  • First 2 days: long driving pushes from Oakville into New Brunswick to get close to the Maritimes.
  • After that: alternate 1 day of driving (4–8 hours) with at least 1 day of local activities (hiking, whales, surfing, small towns) through NB → PEI → Cape Breton.
  • Ferry from Cape Breton to NL.
  • Finish with ~4–6 full days based in St John’s, should be enough to hit East Coast Trail segments, wildlife tours, and local culture

Suggestions/joiners?

My wife and I are planning a road trip from Lake Manitoba to Vancouver starting in Mid-August. We will be travelling from the states and will then follow the Trans-Canada highway to Vancouver. We want to see Banff NP and many sites in Vancouver but we are looking for suggestions for things to do/see along the way. We might stop in Regina, Moose Jaw, Medicine Hat, Lake Louise/Canmore and Kamloops along the way. Any tips/sites/suggestions are welcome.

Vancouver Dec - family of 4 - teenage boys

We are headed to Vancouver in Dec from New Zealand. We were thinking 6 nights in Vancouver and either a couple of nights in Whistler or Victoria. We are keen to see some snow - but don’t ski. We love museums and scenery. Any advice greatly appreciated. We would love to stop in Sqamish and go to the museum of mines and gondola there but we would unlikely not rent a car. Any thoughts on where to stay in the city would also be appreciated.

Traveling to Canada from the uk. Finding the duty free allowances confusing.

Hi there

I am visiting your lovely country this weekend.

I plan to buy some alcohol from duty free airport in the uk.

I understand that Canada limits to spirits to arround 1L per person.

Question 1: if I’m within the allowed limits - do I declare this?

Question 2: if I buy let’s say 4 litres of gin at uk airport duty free, do I need to declare that as they are not in my hold luggage but hand luggage?

Idea is that hoping to bring the alcohol back to me in the uk.

Question 3: if I fill out the advanced declaration via the app, let’s say I am not taking any and say I’m not taking any, and at duty free I buy some within the limits, would I have to update this at the kiosk/gate at customs?

Normally when I land at any airports, they check your passport and let you go on your way to get your hold luggage. No one has ever stopped me for checking my cabin bags or duty free.

Plus if you did buy at duty free, and put it in hand luggage, how would they know?

I’m just trying to understand the process here

Thanks in advance

Canada to North Carolina

Hi all. I’m headed to North Carolina near the end of July, and wanted to possibly get some tips on flying alone to the states for the first time. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t scared of America LOL. I also rarely travel by plane (yes planes scare me too). Any advice welcome! Thanks :)

What do I do with this ticket?

I'm on a road trip in Ontario. While visiting one of the rural towns, I got a ticket for parking in an accessible spot, despite the fact that I did hang my accessible parking pass from the rearview mirror.

The ticket lists my plate number but wrongly lists the province as ON.

I can only imagine that the officer was not paying close attention, given that they missed both my pass and the province I'm from.

So, what do I do with the ticket? Can they even track me down given they wrote down the wrong province? I'm also low-key worried that someone in ON with the same plate number will be on the hook for it. What should I do?

I Need help planning a BC horticulture study tour itinerary

Hi everyone,

I’m helping plan a horticulture study tour in BC for a group of 11 adults, and I’m hoping to get some advice from people who know the area better.

We’re flying into Vancouver late on September 25, 2026, and flying out late on October 3. The goal is to make the trip educational but still realistic, because I don’t want us spending the whole time driving from place to place.

The things we’re most interested in are gardens, forests, farms, nurseries, ecology, landscapes, coastal environments, and anything that would be useful or interesting for a horticulture group.

Right now, the rough plan is to arrive at YVR late on Sept. 25, pick up rental vehicles, and stay near the airport or Richmond for the night.

On Sept. 26, we would take the ferry to Vancouver Island, drive toward Ucluelet or Tofino, maybe stop at Cathedral Grove on the way, and stay one night in Ucluelet or Tofino.

On Sept. 27, we would spend the morning and early afternoon around Tofino or Ucluelet doing things like Pacific Rim, rainforest walks, beaches, coastal ecosystem stops, or possibly a garden stop. Later that day, we would drive to Victoria and stay there.

Sept. 28 would be a Victoria garden day. We’re looking at places like Butchart Gardens, Abkhazi Garden, Beacon Hill Park, and Royal Roads University if it works out.

Sept. 29 would be more time around Victoria or Vancouver Island. We’re considering places like Westholme Tea, lavender farms, Cowichan area stops, research stations, nurseries, farms, or anything similar.

On Sept. 30, we would ferry back to Vancouver and do a lighter stop depending on timing, then stay in Vancouver or Richmond.

Oct. 1 would be a Vancouver horticulture day with places like VanDusen Botanical Garden, UBC Botanical Garden, Bloedel Conservatory, or a nursery/farm stop.

Oct. 2 would be another Vancouver or Lower Mainland day. We’re still deciding between gardens, farms, nurseries, honey bee farms, West Coast Seeds, or anything else that would fit the trip.

For Oct. 3, we were thinking about Whistler as a day trip from Vancouver before our late flight home from YVR. Maybe the Sea-to-Sky drive, Shannon Falls or Squamish, Whistler Village, an easy hike, or one main activity. We would need to leave early enough to return vehicles and get to YVR for a 10:45 PM flight.

My class wants a good amount of time in both Victoria and Vancouver, so we’re trying to figure out the best way to organize everything without making the trip too rushed.

I’m helping my instructor and class plan this with another classmate, and we’ve been going back and forth on the itinerary a lot. These are just our rough ideas right now, so I’d really appreciate any advice.

Would you move anything around or take anything out? Are there any issues with this route that we might not be thinking of? Is Tofino worth it for only one night, or would it make more sense to cut it and spend more time in Victoria and Vancouver? Also, is there a realistic way to fit Whistler into this, even as a day trip, without making the last day stressful?

I’d also love suggestions for good places to stay for a group with rental vehicles, especially around Victoria and Vancouver/Richmond. Any great gardens, farms, nurseries, forests, research stations, ecological sites, or other stops that would fit a horticulture trip would be really appreciated.

Planning a trip to Toronto and Niagara falls

We are planning a trip to Toronto. We will be staying for approximately 7 days around the last week of July. We will be traveling with 2 kids (8&10). We were thinking of renting a car.

We are hoping to visit Niagara falls, amusement parks, activities and touristic places in Toronto.

What recommended places or hotels to stay in? Do we need to be close to downtown if we rent a car?

All comments and suggestions are welcomed.
