Booked 18 Nov-4 Dec Holiday. Reading comments and now considering canceling the trip.

Couple (M27, F26) from Aus wanting to get a little bit of the winter/snow/holiday season experience. My partner loves a cold winter (we don’t have it in Aus) so she can wear her fur coats/nice boots and visit any towns that give off the Hallmark Christmas Movie vibe. We can’t travel later in Dec as we have a few weddings to attend so this is the next best date.

Landing in Vancouver, wanting to visit Banff (and surrounding), Quebec, Montreal etc. Haven’t planned an itinerary but have a budget of $10-12k AUD for the 16 days (excluding flights).

Is the weather that bad? We’ve done winter holidays in London (Jan 24’) and Queenstown (June 26’) and they were fine - are these locations much harsher?

We also visited last year for my work conference in Banff (July) and had an amazing time, but I worry we aren’t ready for a Canadian winter.

Edit: I’m fully aware of how big Canada is (Aus is too) and very comfortable with 4 hour domestic hops 😅

Requesting CR seats is a game changer!

Honestly, never cared much for being Platinum until I requested some J seats in late Nov. very helpful (local sounding?) call rep. and she tried her best to find me suitable flights (even forced released some Domestic J flights connecting to to the international flights). The forced released flights were also in J for the same points/price base, which was an added bonus

All in all, quite happy with 2 x ADL-SYD-YVR for 18th of Nov 😊

Overall, it was amazing experience for someone that barely flew QF over the last 12 months (just some DSC hops to Singapore and Queenstown + OW trips to Middle East). Platinum is really great value.

Edit: I was also 49 SCs off hitting Platinum back in June and with a quick call, they honoured the difference 😊

Anyone know how many points this route is as a classic reward?

Have 300k and trying to see if I can squeeze 2 x this route in J during offseason (I’m flexible). Classic points is 327.2k but can’t find anywhere what it is as a classic rewards (if it ever becomes available).

Does AusPost really not operate during Brisbane Ekka public holiday?

Shipping next-business day express (metro ADL to metro BNE), for a customer tomorrow morning. My dispatch tool is telling me the Brisbane Ekka public holiday may cause disruption to delivery.

I’ve done a quick search and it’s unclear if AusPost operates during this public holiday. Can anyone confirm?

New to Tesla: Y HW4. Can you do anything to upgrade from V13 to V14, or just luck of the draw?

Bought 2024 Model Y yesterday and on V13.2.9. Any way to apply for V14 FSD?

First time buying used, car is under finance, meeting seller at Westpac. What am I missing?

Never bought privately before so keen for some guidance.2024 Model Y, asking 48k, finance on it through ORIX. Seller has agreed to get a payout quote. Plan is I pay the payout straight to ORIX and transfer him the difference. Meeting at a Westpac branch to do both payments there. I will also inspect the car beforehand at the meetup.

Ran a PPSR and it just says “Finance Reported on this car” with no dollar figure, so I have no idea what’s actually owing. Can I ring ORIX myself to confirm the payout or will they only talk to the account holder? And how long does it take for the encumbrance to clear once it’s paid, should I be sighting that before I hand over the balance?

Also keen to know what to look for on the car itself. Battery health, panel gaps, service history, anything Tesla specific I wouldn’t think to check. And any red flags that should make me walk away on the spot.

UPDATE: received the official payout quote of 47.5k and owner is deciding I just pay that and no additional needed. We’ll go to the westpac branch from them to make transfer from my account.

Do I need a professional vehicle inspection for an EV?

Rather ask dumb questions than get burned. Cheers.

Prior to the Egypt WC match, Jackson Irvine had never taken a penalty in any of his 477 career matches.

Further questions to be asked from Poppa regarding penalty takers selection.

What’s everyone’s WC game plan once the working week starts?

Based here in ADL and I’m looking at 4:30am 12:30am and 1:30pm start times with a sprinkle of 2:30am in there 😅. I hate watching non-live matches. What’s everyone’s plan at watching it all,

Hi guys,

Just a question to clear up any confusion for me, as my partner is feeling very upset that she won’t be able to see her elderly parents.

I am Australian and my partner is an Iranian citizen that’s born and raised in the UAE. She’s been living here in Aus with me since 2017, and we visit her family (also Iranian citizens and Dubai residents since 1968 (dad) and 1988 (mum)) in Dubai every 6 months.

I understand that because they’re Iranian citizens, their visa’s will be canceled on the spot should they leave UAE to visit us. We also can’t visit them as my partner is still on an Iranian passport (applying for Aus citizenship but quite a timely process) and her resident status was canceled due to the conflict back in March/April.

Am I right in understanding there is no way for them to see each other under the current rules?
