Driving to Canada from New Jersey. Possible with just license and birth certificate?

I have a passport and global entry. My partner unfortunately realized his passport expired earlier this year. We are going to upstate NY (Watertown) for a day for a work trip and then we will have a 2nd day entirely free to us. Wanted to try and drive over to Montreal possibly. I've read that US citizens have been able to drive over with birth certificate and NJ Real ID? Enhanced drivers licenses are not offered in our state unfortunately either.

Is this still possible in 2026? I know this question probably gets asked often so my apologies.

Anyone have a coworker they actually wish would get RIFed?

My coworker constantly sleeps (and snores, loudly at that) at his desk. Piss poor management won't do anything about it because they're too chicken sh*t to ruffle any feathers. Meanwhile I'm sitting at my desk, trying to focus on my work. It's unfair and demotivating.

Just took the FE Civil today. Graduated 10 years ago...

I studied from January til now. Scored a 58 and a 69 on two practice exams through Kaplan PPI2PASS. Completed all of the HW assignments and quizzes on their course. Attended all live sessions. Really hoping that I pass! I regret not doing this exam when I first graduated, but maybe if other people have similar experiences that will give me hope?

TSA approved dog carrier bags?

So I need a bag that will fit within these dimensions:

18"x11"x10" (soft sided carriers). I know typically it is 18x11x11, but this is for a 737 MAX 9 with United.

Most of the bags I find on Amazon or Chewy are 18x11x11. Such as this one:

How strict do you think United will be about that extra 1 inch?

First time flying with my dog...

OPM actually made a common sense decision regarding telework for once!

DOT/FAA in NY/NJ. Some of us have 1.5 to 2 hour long commutes one way on regular days. During FIFA that will be exasperated. Could this set a precedent going forward that there should be more flexibility in these types of situations?

May be moving from one agency to another. Excited, but also scared. Any advice?

Current FAA employee. Office is relocating further from my residence, so I applied to other agencies closer to home and I actually got an email back stating that I will be contacted for an interview soon. It is exciting but also scary...I've been with my agency for 7 years and honestly didn't ever see myself leaving but I've been put into a tough position. With RTO and our office relocation happening, my daily commute is going to be almost 4 hours round trip. Just unsustainable for me and my work life balance is going to go out the door if I stay here. I love the job, love the people I work with too...but I truly think this move to the other agency will be beneficial. It would be a pretty lateral move too as far as pay. But I could look at it as a pay bump since I would be spending way less on the commute. Has anyone else been through this process?

Has anyone left their agency to be an engineer with Leidos?

FAA Civil Engineer here. Thinking about leaving the Fed because of RTO and no offer of PCS even though our office is relocating further away from my residence. I work with several people on my team that are CTRs and they do all of the same tasks that I do, but they are allowed to have a better work-life balance (hybrid and in some cases fully remote work).

Has anyone followed this career paths? Seems like it's more common to hear the opposite, CTR ----> Fed.

Asking as someone who has stayed working with the FAA. Even to this day I learn of people that took the resignation offer and some of the names surprise me because they were so nice, happy, and seemed to love the job. I know a lot has changed since 2024 with this administration, and I'm wondering if anyone that left Federal employment felt pressure by upper level management to leave.

Want a simple and reasonably priced bottomless brunch in either Jersey City, Hoboken, or Manhattan this year. Does anyone have recommendations for places? I feel like bottomless is becoming harder to come by in Jersey, so definitely willing to go to Manhattan. Just don't want anything that's going to cost more than like $60 a person. Any ideas?
