How to secure a good job for your 3rd tour in this era?

Hi everyone! I am a second-tour officer getting in-come experience at the moment. I don’t bid till next summer but I’ve been hearing how challenging the current bid cycle is- so many bidders, so few jobs. Do yall have any advice on how to be competitive in order to secure an overseas assignment for your third tour? Or a solid domestic tour? Thank you for any advice you may have!

Advice Needed: Capital One Travel Issue

Firstly, I know it’s a mistake to book flights on the portal but please have grace. I booked a flight for a September long weekend. I can no longer go. I made sure I bought a Full Economy ticket (LATAM) and the portal said it was refundable. I went to cancel in the portal app and it claims I’d only get airline credit. I want my money back. I called customer service and had a very agressive and direct representative state that I’d only get airline credit. I calmly explained three times I understand what the portal says, that I bought a refundable ticket, and I have screenshots and my booking email to show. She was not interested. I asked her to explain the fare rules to me. She put me on hold for twenty minutes and said she needed to check with LATAM to see if it was refundable. I didn’t get a call back. Have any advice? I plan to call again this evening and ask to escalate to a supervisor. I’m not opposed if all effort is exhausted to dispute the charge with Capital One asserting the product that I bought was misleading. I appreciate any insight and advice!

Is it still easier to go domestic for Third Tour?

After having in-cone experience in your second tour, is it still generally hard to secure an overseas post for your third tour? I know bidding has been particularly rough lately. Is it easier to secure a domestic position during your first time bidding mid-level?
