Is the frontier Go Wild Pass worth it?

I just got a Venture X card approved last week and as a student In music school I am going to have to travel a lot for competitions. I was wondering if the Go Wild Pass would be worth it even if they have long layovers since I could just stay in the lounges or explore the city that the layover is in(I’ve heard layovers can be as long as 24 hours). I’m mainly thinking about using this to get home for thanksgiving break and winter break and doing 1 flight to visit a friend in their college. In total 3 flights with 1 personal item and 1 carry on. I was thinking this might be worth it since i would have lounge access during the long layovers and could just explore a city and stay at a cheap motel/sleep at the airport if it’s a really long layover. Or would it just be better to take an airline that is offered on the capital one travel portal and earn points.

Reminder to cancel your Motley Fool Auto Renew

A little under a year ago there was a 60k bonus for signing up for The Motley Fool. Just a reminder to log into the website to turn off auto-renew if you haven't.

My renew was in less than a week and they didn't send me any reminders about it.

Using rewards properly

I want to present an example of how I was able to maximize rewards . I used 55,600 miles to cover a recent travel purchase . Had I converted to cash , it was 230 dollars . For the above transaction I will get a credit of 556 dollars instead .

Probably would have been even more with transfer partners.

I am simply presenting this as an example for those who ask about the value of points / cash vs travel redemption .

If I book a hotel through the capital one portal, and in the reservation it says "room fits 2 guests" does that mean I don't have to pay extra for my partner?

Made a reservation for next year and I specified while booking that it was 2 Travellers 1 room. I checked out and all, but i dont see anywhere in the email or the registration that this is a reservation for 2 people other than that little snippet of text. Am I good?

Paze credits

Made my 10 purchases end of July thru paze and only received 2 out of the 10 (9 of them were Sephora). I know CSR has a huge thread on paze credit delays on their end but I don’t really see the same data points for the VX. Anyone contact capital one and have had success in getting feedback on what’s going on?

TIA!

What credit card should I get, if at all??

I’m 19 and got my first credit card 1 year and 3 months ago. I got the “pre paid” capital one platinum card and my credit usage is at $300 (was at $200 until like 2 weeks ago) and my credit score is at 766. I want to start doing those credit maxing things and I want to get a travel credit card. I’ve heard good things about the venture x card and i would be willing to pay the annual fee. Although I dont think I’d be approved + I dont currently travel a lot, so I don’t even know if it would be worth it?! My idea was to rack up my travel points and miles and plan my trips around that. If not venture x, any good alternatives?? I just need advice, someone help

Main cabin seats guaranteed?American airlines

Main cabin seats guaranteed?

Sorry to sound ignorant but im not a frequent flyer. However me and my wife and 8 month old are going to be going from GA to Hawaii! I found a good deal on my venturex capital one card and can get a American airline ticket for almost free. However its a main cabin seat and it says in the description on the capital one app “ Seats not included. May be available to purchase”. Does this mean my seat is not guaranteed? Like I could buy the ticket then not get on the flight? It always me to pick all my seats(i picked the 0 dollar ones to save money) but im confused on what “Seats not included. May be available to purchase” because it then did let me pick all the seats. Again im sorry if i sound dumb i just dont want to be misinformed and buy these tickets and not have a seat! I googled if main cabin seats through American airline guaranteed a seat and it said yes so im guessing im just misunderstanding.

JFK Lounge Review

Had my first time at Capital One Lounge two weeks ago at JFK. My lounge is experience is somewhat limited, but I've used Delta Skyclub in Boston and MCO. I've also used a few PP Lounges. As an an Amex Plat holder, I had the option of Centurion, Skyclub, or Capital One. I used my $200 airline credit on my family for Skyclub on my last trip in April, so way or another, I was going to pay something. I decided to give the C1 lounge a go.

I was impressed. Full bar with decent drinks. Small plates were actually pretty good, and the bagel bar was perfect for my picky daughter. The grab and go counter had some nice desserts. Staff was great and actually let us in about 15 minutes before our window started. There was a 45 wait for the cheese monger, so we skipped that part.

As a downside, it's not nearly as large as the Logan or MCO Skyclubs and seating wasn't as comfortable. My wife liked Skyclub better for this reason, but I much preferred C1 for the better food and drink.

I would rate it equal or better to Skyclub, depending on personal preference, but it's 100% better than the PP lounges I've used.

Dismissed "20X" popup before I could read it

Probably a long shot, but has anyone, when using the Cap1 mobile app, gotten a bottom-drawer pop-up that has some kind of offer in it right after clicking on a specific card to view its details? I accidentally dismissed that kind of popup just now and all I managed to read before it disappeared was "20X".

Could this just be an "exclusive coupon" notification? I hope its not some kind of crazy one-time targeted offer I dismissed, that would suck. I just completed a purchase through the travel portal too, so I don't know if that triggered something. I googled around and saw there is a 20X multiplier for first time travel portal users, but I've used the portal before so I don't presume that's the case.

Capital One Venture X finally unrestricted after 27 days

After 27 days of my Venture X being restricted, Capital One finally removed the restriction today.
The restriction happened basically right after I received the card.

I had made a relatively small purchase (1500) and suddenly the account was restricted. I sent in all the documents they asked for and spent weeks calling, waiting, and doing additional verification.

What’s crazy is that they only finally unrestricted the account after I told them I was ready to close it completely if they couldn’t resolve this. After that, things suddenly moved and the restriction was removed.

The app is now showing my available credit again and everything looks back to normal.
Definitely one of the most frustrating credit card experiences I’ve had, but after 27 days, it’s finally over.

Travel Insurance for Overnight Delay

I’m currently in the air with spotty WiFi so apologies if this has already been answered.

I’m going to land in Detroit 15 minutes after my next flight is scheduled to leave because of delays on my current flight (not weather related). There’s no weather or any other indication my next flight will be delayed. Googling tells me that the travel insurance built into the venturex card will provide me a voucher for a hotel for this situation.

Flight attendants and the Delta chat feature have not been able to confirm if Delta will issue me a voucher for this. They said an agent at the airport has to make that call.

Has anyone gone through something similar and can confirm they’ve successfully received a voucher or been reimbursed for their hotel?

Thanks from 35,000 feet!

200k venture x business SUB

Has anyone seen/received a SUB for the business VX above 200k? I know the SUB is 150k on their site so I reached out to a business rep and they offered 200k for the same SUB requirements.

Seems good to me!

I know no one can estimate what future SUBs are waiting, but curious if anyone has any recent feedback on SUBs when asked directly. Thanks!

Booking international flights + large purchase right after approval?

Thinking about getting the Venture X and have a couple questions 😂

Has anyone booked international flights through the Capital One portal? Did everything go smoothly, and was the ticket actually issued/ticketed successfully with the airline? I usually book directly with the airline, so using a portal for an international flight makes me a little nervous. Does it also clearly show things like how many checked bags are included before you book?

Also I might need to spend around $3,500 pretty much right after I get approved. If I get access to the virtual card before the physical card arrives, I’d probably use it for that purchase.

I’ve heard Capital One can be pretty sensitive with fraud and security, so I’m a little worried that putting a ~$3,500 charge on a brand new virtual card could get flagged or lock the account 😂 Has anyone done something similar right after approval? Any issues?

Thanks!!

Any hacks to save the expiring $300 travel credits ?

I usually use up my travel credits every year but the past year has been a little rough some travel plans got cancelled and my $300 credit expires soon.
Are there any good ways to save this for a little longer?
I know you can just book a hotel in your city and use them up but I want to try to use them in a better way. I usually travel quite a bit but just unable to plan a trip right now due to my circumstances.
Any suggestions would help, thank you!

Decided to apply on a whim, is there a Wiki here or a consolidated FYI/FAQ?

Going to put my son’s daycare on the card so hitting 4K in 90 days won’t be an issue. Do we have an FAQ section or wiki, something to read up on about best practices? Thanks!

How can I see if I've used my $300 annual travel credit?

I'm trying to book a trip, and when I go to checkout, it suggests using my $300 annual travel credit. I swear I've already used that this year though (I always try to use it right away), and my anniversary isn't until September.

How can I see if I've already used that travel credit this year on a previous purchase?

Capital One application keeps duplicating my apartment number — anyone else seeing this?

I’m trying to submit a Capital One credit card application, but the address section keeps duplicating my apartment number.

For example, if I select an address through their autocomplete, it shows something like:

Residential address: 5230 Georgia Ave NW #112
Apt/suite: #112

So the unit number appears in both fields. If I try to remove it from one field, the autocomplete seems to put it back. I originally thought it was something specific to my address, but I tested a completely different apartment address and the exact same thing happened. I also tried on my phone and had the same issue.

Has anyone else encountered this recently? Did you just submit the application with the apartment number showing twice, or is there a way to fix it before submitting? I’m hesitant to submit because I don’t want the duplicated apartment number to cause an address/identity verification issue.

$270.90 refund for a “fully refundable” transatlantic flight

PLEASE BE WARNED about booking “fully refundable” itineraries through Capital One Travel. It is a scam.

I paid over $2,000 for a round-trip ticket for my father, Europe to the U.S., specifically paying more and choosing a refundable option because I knew well in advance that our return plans might change. Before booking the itinerary, I called Capital One and confirmed that I could cancel only the return and still receive a refund for it.

“Of course, no problem.” When I needed to cancel, no one was actually able to cancel the flight over the phone, and I had to spend days calling them, trying to get answers.

I was first quoted a $900 refund, which was reasonable as I knew the refund wouldn’t be 50/50, and I’d lose some money. Once I was ready to cancel, I was told the refund would be about $650, because the first agent, I was told, was wrong and didn’t account for taxes. I don’t know where they got these numbers because ultimately, a manager stepped in and informed me that they actually couldn’t tell me the amount until after canceling the return flight, and then I might not know for another 8-10 weeks while it’s processing. Whatever the amount I eventually got, it’d be final and the decision couldn’t be reversed. Predictably, our plans changed and we had to cancel, which is why we paid more for a refundable fare.

Ultimately, I received a refund of $270.90 for a “refundable” KLM-Delta itinerary (BHM-ATL-AMS-RIX).

If you’re doing desk research and considering purchasing a refundable flight, I hope you read this so that you don’t have to go through the same nightmare!

Edit: I called C1, as someone suggested, and politely requested a breakdown of the calculation, for transparency. I should say the manager was actually very understanding and confused about the amount, so they are escalating this again. While the process has been loooong and confusing, C1 team has been supportive, minus some misleading information.
