1 Dead, Another Injured After Crash in Downtown Santa Barbara

1 Dead, Another Injured After Crash in Downtown Santa Barbara

My inference is that this Tesla flew into Lot 10 in downtown SB at full speed, and ran over and killed a pedestrian. However, this is my guess from the limited details that are on Noozhawk right now, and I could be wrong. May the victim rest in peace.

EDIT: Thank you to u/BaconBikes805 for posting a newer link to KEYT with more information. It was the vehicle passenger who passed away, not a pedestrian as I had guessed based on the limited reporting available through Noozhawk at the time of the original post.

Incoming Career Staff: Rental housing in La Jolla or UTC?

Hi all, I am an incoming career staff member who is in my 40's, married, with a small dog and two cats. My husband and I are looking to rent either a 3-bedroom single-family home nearby in UTC under Rose Canyon (we might be open to North Clairemont), or possibly a condo with a small yard or grassy area in La Jolla.

Budget is $5K but ideally less; we'd feel more comfortable with $4,500 + utilities etc. Need to have parking on site, w/d inside, and obvs pet friendly. I like a suburban family-friendly feel to neighborhoods.

We need to be close to campus and prefer a short commute on surface streets, no highway. We will be visiting the area soon to look for rentals in person and get a feel of the neighborhoods, but we're doing a lot of research on Zillow.

My questions for you:

-La Jolla: Mentally this area has been off the table for me as I assumed it's very expensive, and full of loud undergrads. Sorry, but I'm comparing it to Montecito in areas and IV in areas for anyone familiar with UCSB! Are there any quiet, calm, family-friendly pockets with condo rentals in La Jolla? Should I scratch La Jolla off the list?

-UTC vs North Clairemont: Can anyone compare/contrast? Are they pretty similar?

-Rental agencies: It looks like Good Life gets decent reviews. Are there any other companies to steer me towards or against, conversely?

Thanks in advance! If anyone has questions about SB, I'd be happy to help you out and return the favor, so to speak.

ETA: If you have any fun dog-focused activities to do in La Jolla, please lmk. We love to spoil our dog and would do anything for him!

Cutie Ghost Merch - Online Release

Hi all,

I'm a bit confused about the Cutie Ghost release info from the Disney Parks Blog post below, which mentions multiple dates and even the wrong year (2025).

On Monday, August 10 at 8am, we had a bunch of the Cutie Ghost merch go live. I was able to snag some items, except for the long-sleeve PJ's that I really want.

Today Tuesday, August 11, I thought we would have a second 'drop' for merch, as this date was mentioned in the link below. However, I just realized that the link below also references 'August 7, 2025'--??? Is the bottom half of this parks blog the merch and pics from last years release?

TL;DR: Are we going to get the super cute, short-sleeve and long-pant women's pajamas online or in store with the cutie ghost print and a little black cat? I don't like the short PJ's out online now. Is there a second merch release today or no?

Campus Cats Tigger & Turbo on Instagram

Hi all,

For anyone who wants updates on the sweet campus cats Tigger and Turbo while they're away during the summer, I just created a little IG account for them. The name is 'UCSB_cats'. They're doing well and thriving this summer!

Hi all,

My sister just shared a KTLA link with me about how California drivers may soon be able to get a Disneyland license plate (ie. similar to the Snoopy or UCLA ones) which benefits children's hospitals. There's an interest list on the CA State of Treasurer website which I just signed!

I'm not affiliated- just though it was cool and others may be interested as well. :)
