I’m writing this because I myself have fallen victim to losing my account, and couldn’t find any reliable information anywhere on Reddit. I’ve been a discord nerd since 2016-2018, and left until 2023. Not sure what happened between that time but, Discord today is full of weirdos and Ai bullshit moderation. I hope this helps you stay secured, and brings peace of mind.

For starters some basic Discord OPSEC,
Ensure you have ownership, and are the only person with access to the attached email on your account.
Set up every single 2FA feature including SMS Codes, Backup Codes and an Authentication system.
Do NOT connect any personal social information to your account, such as your social media or gaming accounts, if you’re not comfortable sharing that information.
Do NOT join servers you aren’t 110% confident won’t negatively affect or expose your account.
NEVER click links from random strangers.
AVOID EXTENSION, ORB EXPLOITS, AND ANY THIRD PARTY SERVICES ( this is to ensure your session token isn’t floating around ANYWHERE )
Turn your DMs off, private your account, and friend request off in servers you aren’t familiar with.
Avoid appearing online for long periods of time when you aren’t actively watching your account. Meaning don’t be the guy why never goes offline lol.

Everything I’ve stated above should keep a mass majority of Discord Users away from prying eyes and ensure the security of your account.

Now for those of you who have been hacked, and or are currently compromised, the most important thing you can do at this moment is creating a Discord support account, which is completely separate from your actual Discord account, and opening a ticket requesting restoring access to your account. If you have access to the originally attached email, you have nothing to worry about and Discord should help you restore your account within 3-7 days. ( Yeah, their turn around time is shit! )

If for whatever reason, you obtained your discord account through alternative methods which may involve your account “originally” being attached to a Swiftmail, Rambler, GMX, Outlook, or any Russian email provider… here is what you should do.

When logging into the email provided to you, regardless of if it’s through a forwarding service such as “Swiftmail”, make sure you login to the original email provider website.
If it’s @Rambler, that’s Rambler . Com.
If it’s GMX, it’s GMX . Com.

Make sure that you check the email settings and turn off any forwarding settings.

Search for incoming (IMAP) and outgoing (SMTP) server settings and turn that off. This ensures discord emails are only being sent to your email, and not being forwarded anywhere else. Also make sure you don’t have emails from discord filtered out or blocked.

Double check your Forward Filtering settings, and Login Sessions of the email.

Make sure that the email isn’t signed into any other IP addresses and if it is just sign out of every other location, device, excluding l your current location. Now you can change the password, and add any security 2FA features to the email account provided. Remember, securing the email is the most import thing first.

Immediately, after which you need to go to the Discord support website and create a Discord support account with the originally attached email that came with your account that you obtained, and however, way that you did.

Create a verification ticket and request for verification that you’re writing this support ticket from the originally registered email on the account. Make sure that you mention to them that your account is currently safe and has no issues but you’re just looking to verify that you are creating this ticket from the originally attached/registered email on the account.

After they verify that you are communicating with them through the originally attached or registered email, tell them that you’re looking to swap emails and delete the currently attached email.

The support agent should tell you that it’s fine and give you the steps on how to do so, after which I want you to go ahead and switch the attached email on the Discord account to a completely separate email that only you have access to.

This can be a personal, business, school, or encrypted email just make sure that you’re the only person who has access to this email.

After you successfully changed the email on the Discord account go ahead and go back into that support ticket and speak with the agent.

Let them know that you changed the emails and confirm that the new email is the originally registered email on the account.

After they confirm the emails have been replaced, make sure they confirm that you can delete the old email attached.

Deleting the first email, and securing access to the discord account

The last thing that you have to do is go back to the originally attached email that came with your account however you obtained it. Maybe it’s a GMX, or a Rambler or RU whatever it is, login to that email and request for the provider to delete the entire email address and account. You no longer have to worry about anyone else gaining access to the discord account with that email address or the email being forwarded, as the entire email will be deleted.

The last thing you need to do is ensure that you have a secured email attached to your Discord account and ensure that Discord support verifies the new email is now the originally registered emailed attached to your account. As as you have access to the originally registered email, you’ll be fine.

Once again, reapply all the basic OPSEC security features I’ve stated in the beginning and you should be fine. I hope this helps whoever is reading.
