Ugh - I'm Sure It's Back

I had a previous ordeal with c. diff that lasted about 3 years. A long routine of Vancomycin, Dificid, Zinplava infusions, and eventually Vowst. The Vowst seemed to get rid of it, and all was well for almost 3 years.

Then, I got a UTI, and the doctor treating me for it said that Cipro was the only antibiotic that this strain of bacteria would respond to. Only 6 Cipro pills, with Vancomycin to try and prevent c.diff recurrence, and it's a disaster. I've had diarrhea for days, 10 times today, and I will be getting started with testing in a couple of days.

I'm demoralized. It will undoubtedly mean at least one round of Vancomycin, possibly Dificid, and prior approval for Vowst again.

I'm upset with the doctor treating the UTI. When I asked them to, they should have prescribed an alternative medication like fosfomycin.

I find myself questioning whether I can survive this again.

Buyer's Realtor Presented Fake Mold Report

When my former home was for sale, a buyer's agent presented an offer. During the inspection period, the buyer hired an inspection firm recommended by their realtor. In the area where I live, a buyer can exit the contract during the inspection period in the contract.

The buyer's agent sent my realtor a fake mold report that had charts showing that my home was contaminated to the point of being uninhabitable. In fact, there was no mold problem in my home. The report, when studied carefully, had a reference to a property in another city that they forgot to edit out....

Based on the fake mold report, they asked for an immediate further reduction in the price. They were told to pound sand. The buyer's agent responded that the mold report was presented in error.

How common is something like this?

Visibility

I have an Avalon that is still in good condition, but I had been considering a Crown sedan as an eventual replacement. I liked the idea of a hybrid large sedan. I visited a dealer, and sat in the Platinum edition as well as a Limited. It's difficult to find them on a lot...

I found the driver's seat and the front end design to be unsatisfactory. No matter how I adjusted the driver's seat, I couldn't see any of the hood at all. The seats were the same in both models. Personally, l like to see at least some of the hood for spatial orientation in front of the car. Some people get used to this, but I won't accept it. And, no, I wouldn't consider aftermarket seat products even if one was available.

The Avalon provided comfort and visibility for most drivers. The Crown has hideous ergonomics. The profile of the Crown shows the hood to have a slightly rising curved surface - no downward slope.

I hope Toyota redesigns the Crown...

Filed 1040 for Deceased Parent

My mother unfortunately passed away in late 2025. She left no estate - there's nothing to probate. I filed a final 1040 - personal income tax return - for her, and also a form 1310 so I could get what would have been her refund. I followed instructions in IRS Publication 559, and also called the IRS to verify what to do.

The IRS received the tax forms before the end of February. I waited 6 weeks, but no information was available on the IRS website. I called the IRS in mid-April, and 3 different representatives gave me conflicting, differing information. One representative said they didn't receive any tax return for my mother, and refused to discuss it further. Another claimed, falsely, that I needed to be a court appointed representative to deal with her taxes. Yet another representative told me to send on duplicates of the return and associated forms again, with a cover letter noting that this was a duplicate due to the potential loss of some or all of the forms. I was also advised to send in another form that Publication 559 noted as unnecessary... But I sent it anyway.

There was no change in status on the IRS refund tracker website, and no one would acknowledge the receipt of the return. Usually I got a message on a red background saying that the information did not match their records. I then sent a request for assistance to the Taxpayer Advocate Service (TAS).

There's a sudden change now on the IRS refund tracker website - it finally notes that the return was received. I don't know what is next, though. Of course, the IRS lost many people to DOGE, so perhaps everything is in chaos. But my personal refund was processed quickly.

I don't know if the TAS did anything - I thought they contacted the taxpayer first. Has anyone here dealt with a situation like this?

Bunion and hammer toe

Per my previous post, wondering what kind of surgery will have a faster recovery time.

Best Surgery for Recovery - Over 65

I'm reading about the different kinds of surgery types. I have a serious bunion on my right foot, along with a 2nd toe hammer toe. Big toe is pushing hammer toe over 3rd toe. There's almost no pain, unless the hammer toe rubs against the top of the toe box of a shoe.

I have other medical conditions, and am very concerned about being immobile for a long period of time. I have osteopenia, although the bones in my feet are free of bone loss.

I'm very reluctant to have surgery, but the toe alignment problem is pushing me to consider surgery. What kinds of surgery procedures have been successful for you and have the shortest recovery period? Tough question, I know...
