Should people have sympathy for drug addicts on soaps, such as Nick Newman on Y& R?
I find it difficult to have any sympathy for someone on drugs. I feel they made a choice that was a bad choice, but I can’t excuse that just because they’re on drugs, they should be given a pass at all the things that come with that choice.
And I feel the same in real life as well

What is the proper way to pronounce this opera?
I remember many years back Margaret Juntwait was doing the Met radio broadcast and she pronounced the first name in the title as “ BE UH TREE CHAY”.
I always found that interesting as I had never heard the name pronounced as such.
Typically, I have heard people say:
“ BE UH TRIS” or they say
“ BE AT TRIS”
Just curious as to what you fellow opera lovers think the correct pronunciation should be.
I’m also aware that this opera was not performed at the Met but she was referencing a concert performance held somewhere else in New York.
