And I'm not referring to the soldiers that were enhanced with viruses or whatever but rather the infected that apparently remember how to handle a gun, Seriously, it adds so much more variety when you have to stop in your tracks because there is a soldier just wildly spraying his rifle into the air, or you get downed by a guy with a magnum, now I understand that in left these encounters are not scripted but rather decided by the game director AI so maybe placement and pacing could be difficult, and that "" technically"" the spitter and smoker are fulfilling a similar role, all of that aside from the fact that valve was trying to get the gameplay as far away from half life as possible, but after playing mods that add enemy soldiers like rochelle's revenge or assault, I feel like an entire dimension of the gameplay was lost because all enemies have to close the distance to engage.
