Finally tapped out at 244 titles for now.

Decided to take a major break. Probably won't be able to finish all those books.

But pretty sure I'll eventually get an itch for more books. lol

Hypothetically if you could afford any loudspeaker, regardless of cost, which ultra luxury brand would you avoid, and why?

I think it's interesting to see what brands people would avoid, and why, rather than everybody listing the top X most expensive speakers on the planet.

What level of equipment would yiu consider audiophile quality?

Just a discussion. I have no idea what the bottom tier might be. But my Anthem MRX 1140 and Paradigm Premier fronts hits all the bullet points as audiophile quality on a budget that's fairly reasonable.

The sky is the limit when it comes to better quality. But I'd say McIntosh would be top shelf mid-fi.

McIntosh is good and other companies use it to figure out their own target audience.

Sitewide Sales

I've come to the conclusion that the sitewide sales, and the randomness of those, is a way for Audible to reward customers that keep thier accounts long term.

Has anybody gone on a book buying spree this Sitewide Sale?

I managed to keep it down to a svelte three Dragonlance novels.

Anybody else treat Audible credits like it's burning a hole in your pocket?

More of a humorus discussion. But I find it facinating when people post they have to use a bunch of credits before it's too late.

I have a never ending wish list, which I frequently revamp.

Does anybody else feel like movie studios abandoned edgier films for safe films?

I just finished watching Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me.

It deserves the R rating. A very slow burn of a movie over two hours long. 1992.

Yet, it still manages to do things I suspect would never get greenlit by a movie studio in the last several years.

By 2026 standards, it's practically a snuff film.

Anybody ever wish they didn't see a movie based on a book because listening or reading the book forces you to imagine all the characters like the movie or TV series?

I'm listening to The Hobbit, and thinking that before the movies were made, my imagination of the characters was far more organic. I first read The Hobbit in '77.

Anybody trying to finish thier collection?

I'm not talking about getting insane deals on books at times... when people splurge on things they never thought about.

I mean book series from authors that don't or rarely go on sale. Where using your credits is still better than any sale price you're likely to get.

For me, I'm working on Cosmere (Brandon Brooks), and to a lesser extent, Wheel of Time and the Mazalan Book of the Fallen which I hope to find more books on super sale. But I'll eventually spend credits on maxalan Book of the Fallen and Wheel of Time.

Why would a two channel systen need a master clock?

Occassionally a Youtube "audiophile" video will list the specs of the setup, and it will not only have a master clock, but the master/reference clock will be mentioned in the title of the video.

On episode 21... insights

Interesting. I'd describeTwin Peaks as experimental.

I'd have to crawl the openings of each episode, but pretty sure multiple directors have been at the helm since the beginning of season one.

Episode 19 (if I recall) was mostly filler until the last few seconds (David Duchove got killed), followed by a ledendary episode only appreciated by people watching the entire series.

That's as far as I got.

Curious if anybody owns the Magelo M9's, and your honest opinion.9

Juat curious. The price point is phenomenal, but makes it more curious to the plebe masses.

Why expensive preamps are expensive

I learned a few things. Like just how much a preamp chip doesin terms of being a workhorse.

High end audiophile companies literally have to make separates for functions already on the chip. 🤯

It's a good thing, in as much as you get better audio.

But it also answers the question why you can buy a $6.91 amp (I know, this is about preamps) on Aliexpress with free shipping... and get a crappy amp.

Are DVDs better than CDs for playing?

Short answer is "no", but Paul is talking about the mechanism (and lasers) used to read the data. Not a CD player vs a DVD player.

More interesting, and at the very end, he kinda sums it all up (paraphrasing) reading the bits is the easy part. The rest [of the engineering] is about what you do with the bits.

Paul goes into detail about his Perfectwave transport. But there are a suprising number of ways to engineer a CD Player/Transport.

I'd say the last 25% of the video is the best part. But you should probably watch the whole video, though.

What level of Audiophile are you?

Apparently my hopes and dreams are around 4 to 5.

Here are the Seven Levels of Amplifiers.

Interesting Mcintosh behind the scenes about their auto transformers

I'd say Mcintosh mainly appeals to people that want Mcintosh and the Mcintosh sound.

For example, a Rotel amp might be half the cost and essentially be 95%-99% the same, with negligible differences depending on the music tracks being A/B tested.

Rotel would be better at times, and Mcintosh with other songs.

You can't really put a rating on the sound signature of different amp brands. That's personal taste.

I inherited a 50 acre farm, and cleaned up 4 acres over a period of 9 years, destroyed by a pair of hoarders the prior relative allowed to live on the farm for 20 years. AMA

I never thought I'd finish, and almost feels like a dream that it's over. Over time stuff literally sinks into the ground.

I burned 8 pallets of chip wood boards, which have so much plastic(?), it burns wet. Cleaned up 1 acre for a garden, and the walk behind tiller was destroyed hitting pieces of steel sectional cattle fencing buried in the ground. Had my farmer freind plow it, and he plowed up more stuff.

The trailer house (manufactured house?) had stuff piled up to 4 feet high, with a bare minimum of 18 inches.

I need to mention the 1 acre they destoyed in the woods. -after they destroyed a trailer house, my relative built a cottage type homestead in the woods with a few small buildings. All but the bedroom building was rotted. No running water, no electricity.

The company I hired to remove the decaying trailer house has been delayed by incessant rain. But I've finished all I could do.

I did have a lot of help from a nearby relative, at times when I absolutely needed help.
