Horizontal lines on old Sony Bravia?
So to make a long story short, a friend asked me if I could help with one of his family's old TVs (Sony Bravia XF70), figure out how to get rid of horizontal lines it has.
Nowhere near an expert but he's a lost cause when it comes to tech. When first described, I gathered it was just one or two flickering horizontal lines. Except that's not the case at all - lines aren't flickering and not one or two but like uniform interlacing lines, which don't change at any stage.
Checked with multiple systems/sources, replaced HDMI cables; doesn't seem to be an external issue. Gone through all the settings, no difference.
Would a firmware update help? Or is it a lost cause? Any advice would be appreciated.

It's safe to say Mace forgot her own past posts prove otherwise
Things were totally fine back then. Just ignore the low life expectancy and, you know, death.
So to make a long story short, a friend asked me to help him with his family's old Wii so that it could run games from USB (what I had on my wii for years).
He brought me the Wii to try and sort. Model is RVL-001 (KOR) and the system is 3.2U. Turns out it had a modchip installed (dunno which kind) and it has Backup and Homebrew channels. Didn't come with any SD card.
I figured I'd just install d2x cIOS through an SD card and add a USB Loader channel. Did everything according to the guides (haven't done this in years). However, the homebrew app won't detect anything past d2x v6 when trying to install. Files are all in place and SD card isn't locked, retried a bunch of times to no success. Saw a suggestion that it might be version related, so wanted to update the system, but U also saw a warning about updating Korean models, so not sure what to do.
Is it safe to update the thing to 4.3U as is, are there steps I need to do first, or is it irrelevant if all I wanna do is add USB Loader functionality (and the "no versions past d2x v6" issue is unrelated)?
Any and all help would be appreciated.
