I feel like John is someone who is very in tune with time and its passage and his place in it all. 83, Changing, Born and Raised, Who Says, Wheel, Stop this Train, etc. What other tracks am I missing??
I have to think he’s thinking about his next album as the last one of his 40s and as a result I know he’s going to tell a story. Set a tone for the coming decade. I’m so excited.
Thinking a lot about this description of Tony from the recent NYT Magazine profile. Without getting overly political (or maybe Tony would approve of that?), in this climate of what is masculinity and the manosphere and whatnot it’s amazing that Tony really straddled that tightrope of “masculinity” and “liberal virtue” and how his relevance to this day obviously reflects how much that resonates with so many of us to this day.

Edit: Thanks to everyone who rightly called out parts of my poorly worded post. By “tightrope” I meant more like in the current (extremely online) discourse of masculinity and how it wrongly pits certain ideas against one another, not at all that masculinity and liberal virtue are inherently disconnected.

I absolutely love that in this NYT article about the food at the Obama Presidential Center, they describe Obama as “the only head of state to have eaten on camera with Anthony Bourdain.” The honor that is eating with Tony! A well deserved mention :)
