Second in two weeks… can’t help myself…

In all seriousness, I bought my 2024 40mm Explorer and when I told my Dad who retired last year (who also thought he could walk in off the street and buy any Rolex he wanted) - he immediately ordered me to source him a grey DJ41 with a specific configuration he wanted.

Well, I called up my watch guy and within days he had sourced this close to mint condition 2017 DJ41, fluted on Oyster available for me to fly around the world to my Dad for my brothers wedding in a few weeks. Comes with original box and papers, including green and white tags!

If the new album is anything like Street of Dreams, can we have our collective funeral for good new U2 music and instead focus on the genre defining, Grammy winning and GREAT music of the past?

I say this as a mega fan; who hopes and hopes and hopes for something along the lines of 90’s U2. Dark, gritty, poetic and dramatic. Ultraviolet is my personal favourite. Let the Edge run wild with effects, textures, distortion and Bono be as abstract as possible.

Since songs of innocence, I just cannot reconcile that this is the same band that commanded the attention of the world from the 1980’s to the early 2000’s. In my opinion: they deserve to be on the Mt. Rushmore of rock music, but not for anything after HTDAAB.

Street of Dreams is diabolical. It sounds so thin, uninspired and forgettable. I’m holding them to the same standard they created for themselves in years past.

Basically, I just can’t hope anymore when they release something like SOD. Anyone with me?
