Ever noticed a scent category just doesn’t work for you on your skin?

I tried Poison by Dior a while back because I kept seeing people call it a classic gourmand. On paper I liked it, vanilla and sweetness seemed easy to wear. On my skin it turns heavy and a bit cloying after an hour. I still get why people enjoy it, but I don’t reach for it anymore. I tested it a few times in different weather and it just feels like too much for daily use. Anyone else had a scent they thought they'd like but didn't work on skin?

What’s the one fragrance you save only for special occasions?

Mine is YSL Libre. I don’t wear it casually because the bottle is expensive and I honestly don’t want to burn through it too fast. I usually keep it where I know I’ll be around people for a long time. Every time I wear it, someone asks what I’m using. It also lasts the entire event on my skin without needing a respray, which is another reason I save it for important days instead of regular office use. I’ve had it for over a year and the bottle still looks almost full because I’m careful with it. Some fragrances just feel worth saving instead of making them an everyday thing. What fragrance in your collection do you purposely avoid wearing too often?

I like testing perfumes on my boyfriend mainly to see how they come across to me, not just how long they last. One I keep noticing is Dior Fahrenheit. On him, it smells warm and a bit smoky, but still clean. It’s noticeable when I’m close, but not overwhelming from a distance. I catch it on his clothes sometimes and it still smells good hours later. Compared to sweeter scents I’ve tried on him, this one feels more balanced and easier to be around for a long time. It’s one of the few I actually look forward to him wearing. What kind of scent do you personally enjoy smelling on your partner?

For me it’s Versace Crystal Noir. I didn’t expect it to come across sweet at first, but on my skin it leans creamy and slightly sugary. I usually wear it in the evening or when I want something noticeable but not loud. It lasts a decent amount of time, around 5–6 hours for me, and people around me often say it smells “soft but sweet.” It’s not candy-like sweet, more of a smooth sweetness that sits close. I’ve tried it in different weather, and it performs better in cooler conditions. It’s one of the few in my collection that I keep reaching for when I want something simple and reliable. What’s the sweetest one you own that actually gets noticed?
