So I'm not always around to mist the inside of my monotub for proper humidity. I've been experimenting with an Ultrasonic Diffuser that's normally used as a home air freshener. Of course it would have to be unused with no essential oils ever in it. They can be set to create a small mist several times a minute and will maintain a proper humidity level for mushrooms. I've seen something similar in expensive monotub grow kits. The one I've been playing with is easily adaptable to accept a hose to run directly into the monotub. Any thoughts one way or another? My Cascadian Teachers have been in the pin stage for 3 months no with no signs of growth. I've attached 2 photos and a list of what I've done since starting the crop. The 1st photo is of the mycelium undisturbed. The 2nd photo is after I was desperate & did the "fork method" to loosen the mycelium. The discoloration is just from the substrate mixed slightly with the mycelium, not mold or contamination. There is still no sign of mold or contamination and the smell is still "earthy". So, I've done the fork method, refrigerator method and the bubble wrap method with no change. The humidity has stayed consistent at 90% and temp. has remained in the 70s. Any time that I moisturized the substrate I used a syringe & needle to get the substrate moist without getting the mycelium wet. Is it time to give up & move on? Thanks in advance for any help.
