New to this. How do you store fish while on foot on sand bars and stuff? Walking from spot to spot.

Its been a good twenty years since I was into fishing. I used to have a little tinny and i'd keep the fish fresh in an esky. Same thing when fishing off piers etc. But i'd like to go for a wander and do some lure fishing moving along the coast on foot to find the spots. I cant really see how it would work carry a bloody esky with me. Dunno if an Aldi freezer bag is big enough? Maybe it is what do you reckon. Maybe if you cut the heads off first or something, bleed them, then place them in a plastic bag with some frozen blocks in the Aldi bag or something.

Any advice for a bike cover? Things to look out for.

I am looking at getting a new bike and as I only rent a bedroom where I live I have no access to any sort of shed or garage for storage. The bike will be outside most of the time I’d like some advice on what to look for in regards to keeping the weather off it while not having it sweat like crazy like it would under a tarp. I’ve never had any need for something like this before so I am unsure about what materials are best to look for.

Any advice on how to avoid getting jacked for my bike?

I am looking at getting myself a new quality BMX but I live and transit through one of the highest crime areas nearby. I really want to get myself a fairly pricey good quality bike but the main thing holding me back is the knowledge that there is a fairly good chance that rolling past the wrong area on a good quality bike will just attract the wrong attention and I'll get mugged for my bike and probably my shoes. I am wondering if any of you have some advice for me?

I don't actually even need a good quality BMX because I don't ride at a high level or anything its really just for transit to work and shops etc but, well ... I like nice things, and I can afford it so why not?

I know how to defend myself. I am not afraid of the assault itself I just don't want to lose a good new bike you know? I am hoping someone might have a stella piece of advice I'd never even though of before that just clicks. I mean besides the obvious of not riding alone at night or down streets that are known to be suss and stuff like that. And also any one know a good bike lock?

Why don't I see any kids on BMX anymore?

Growing up in the 90s the bike racks at school were full of BMX. A few kids here and there would have those flat handlebar mountain bike type of things but to be honest, they were usually dorks. I was driving home from work today and it struck me that not a single kid I saw heading home from school was on a BMX. They all had mountain bikes with like 27' wheels and scooters, scooters everywhere.

I feel like something has been lost. BMX were and remain to this day cool as hell. The best way to get around an urban environment. Throw some pegs on there ... man, I kinda wanna get one now.

I am getting back into fishing after more than 20 years off. I can only ID the super noticeable ones like flathead and whiting. Maybe barra. I’d like a good book (preferably water proof for a kayak) that has easy ID and legal sizes in it. I vaguely remember back when I fished 20 years ago a small orange book that had something like this, but I dunno mate isn’t there something a bit bigger and more robust? I don’t really even know what I want to be honest I guess I am just wondering if there is anything better than that one little orange one I used to have.

I used to go fishing fairly often as a child and teenager in the 90s and maybe early 2000s. But I hardly ever actually caught anything. This was all in the Pumistone Passage on the Sunshine Coast.

I am looking at getting back into fishing now at 40 years old I’ll be kayak fishing close to shore, creeks and rivers around north Brisbane, Caboolture river mouth area and north and south of that.

My memory of fishing is just being constantly disappointed and I never really invested any time into figuring out why. I used to just use mullet pieces and blood worms. Can’t remember what size hook or how the leader was set up or anything.

I THINK I used to just tie a hook on, then do like a 30cm leader up to a swivel and have a sinker on top of that? I would pretty much just cast it out and sit and wait for a good bite then set the hook. Either this was just the best setup for Bream or that’s all that was out there in the 90s.

I really don’t want to catch bream this time round id like to target flathead and … we’ll, anything but god damn bream. I am most likely going to try my hand at lure fishing.

Can anyone recommend a good YouTube video or a good book on basics? Or at least tell me that my baits, technique and setup was just garbo? Or maybe that’s just what I should expect around SE QLD that’s there is way more of some fish than others.

I am pretty clueless really.

Hello,

A resort near me was throwing out several of these Seak Swift kayaks. I thought hey good as time as ever to learn to kayak fish right? I've done a bit of searching for these answers but I don't know I think I need more clarification from the experts on reddit. I'd like to do this as simply as possible, If I enjoy kayaking i'll splash out and get myself a better kayak but for now this was a free kayak so its a free trial I guess.

Question 1: I got some PC Marine Epoxy putty. Do you reckon this is good enough to fix this small hole in the handle in the picture?

Question 2: What screws should I use to attach accesspories. I got a few of these D clip thingy's today didn't even think until now oh yeah I need something to attach them with. I assume self tapping stainless screws directly into the kayak but then I will probably need to seal them with silicone if I do that. Or is there some other "correct" way? Because I am going to need to attach a rod holder and a few other things as well I'd like to at least try to get it right.

Question 3: I got this seat for it, there are no clips attached to the base of the seat so the base looks like it'll just slide around. You can see I haven't secured it properly at the back yet, but it doesn't look right regardless. Am I dumb? Or is the base just supposed to slide around a bit?

Question 4: Any other tips to tidy up this old kayak? I know I'll need some bungee cord stuff for the back too.
