Me (mid 30s F) and my husband (late 30s M) have been in an ENM dynamic for about 4 years. We paused for around 9 months because we’ve been trying to conceive (wanted to focus only on us), so it just didn’t feel like the right time (still not pregnant though and not sure when it happens).

Recently I had a doctors appointment and specifically asked about STI risk etc., and the doctor gave us the green light to explore again safely. I felt really relieved and ready to go back to that part of our life.

When I brought it up to my husband, he seemed hesitant and a bit unsure, which surprised me (before, several days ago, when I mentioned a sex party I found, he was more positive about that idea). So now I’m a bit confused. I’m not sure how to read it or how to move forward without either pushing him or suppressing myself.

I definitely want to explore again and feel ready, but I also don’t want to create tension or misalignment between us.

Has anyone experienced something similar after a break? Is this just about needing a slower re-entry, or could it be something else?
