2025 cpo porsche macan
For my mother in law. She is dead set on the car and leasing so just trying to get her the best deal. She told them she wanted to pay 1000 a month. How can we negotiate from here?

My(36m) wife’s father died late last year. He was wealthy but lived a fairly modest lifestyle. He didn’t have much appreciation for material stuff, he instead preferred to spend his money traveling or on his family.
The one thing he did enjoy splurging on was a nice car. He mostly leased his cars; had a few Audi’s, BMW and Mercedes’ over the years, but he really always wanted a Porsche. It was his dream car.
But his wife wouldn’t let him have one. She had this thing about it being too flashy and said it would attract other women. (He would never cheat or anything close, but, she’s old, so, whatever.)
Now he’s been gone about 6 months and the MIL needs a new car. She and my wife decide they gonna go look at some this weekend. I look up some lease deals and find a couple reasonable leads for a BMW. I tell the wife to send it to her mom and see what she thinks.
Mother-in-law comes back and says the BMW is too small. And what does she decide she wants instead? You guessed it, a fucking Porsche!! She says it would be a nice way to honor her dead husband. By getting the car that he always wanted.
My wife agrees and thinks it’s a nice gesture. I told them both, in a nice way, that I think it’s kinda shitty. SHE is the one who stopped him from getting one. And now she’s gonna honor him by driving the car that she forbade him from? I know she means well, but still I think it’s kinda bullshit.
I can’t think of the right way to ask the question but I guess I’ll just ask this: am I the asshole or is my mother-in-law the asshole?
TLDR; my MIL forbade my FIL from getting his dream car, then got it for herself after he died to “honor him”
