Upper and mid back pain

Does anyone who has hypertonic pelvic floor disfunction have mid and/or upper back pain?

For the last 7 weeks my symptoms impacted my lower half until they recently started traveling up my spine. AI searches says it’s because my body had to learn to stabilize myself when my pelvic floor was off but can people please share if they also experience with their condition.

My PT thinks it’s my nervous system as well.

Leg guarding and spasms

Does anyone else get leg guarding, spasms, and cramping?

Mine started 9 days into my PFD onset and while the hyper excitability has gotten way better, they still cramp up all over like crazy. I actually think gabapentin might be making it worse because it was very quiet until I started the medication 2 weeks ago. My pelvic floor specialist thinks this with my upper back pain isn’t normal but I think it’s all connected…

Complex symptoms need help

Hi all,

I have been posting a lot lately but as I lay in bed with my pelvic floor spasming I really need your help.

My symptoms came on a little over 6 weeks ago acutely from 2 minor pelvic traumas (egg freezing which has zero issues and laser hair removal which triggered issues 24 hours later).

What started as normal pelvic floor disorder (burning, frequency, tight hips/glutes), has exploded into something severe.

I have full body spasms but they mainly occur in my legs, glutes, and nonstop in my pelvic area unless I find a position that gets them to quiet down. I have on and off glute, hip, and lower back pain but what’s most concerning is now I have mid and upper back/neck pain that has given my doctor pause.

ChatGPT says this is symptomatic nervous system related. What are your thoughts and experiences? I really just want my life back and I’m worried I’m going to be stuck like this forever.

If this truly is nervous system related how would I fix it? Is it just SSRIs and doing yoga in addition to all my manual work (PPT, wand, ect)?

I used to wake up pain free and now I wake up with muscle tension. Help please.

Non-stop pelvic spasms

I’ve been dealing with pelvic floor dysfunction for about six weeks (from initial symptom onset). It seems to have been acutely triggered by two things: first, egg freezing, and then laser hair removal about a month later. I zero symptoms after the egg retrieval and the laser hair removal really seemed to be the tipping point.

Almost three weeks ago, around my second period since all of this started, I began experiencing consistent pelvic floor spasms that have never fully stopped. Sometimes they happen every few seconds; other times there are longer breaks between them. They can be very subtle or quite intense. Fortunately, I’m able to sleep through them, and I sometimes wonder whether they actually stop while I’m asleep because as soon as I wake up, they start again.

Initially, the spasms weren’t painful, but they’re starting to become uncomfortable, which is making me increasingly worried. I also used to only experience them when my legs were stretched straight out in front of me. Now they happen in almost every position except when I’m standing.
I really need help figuring out how to break this spasm cycle because I feel like it’s interfering with otherwise really encouraging progress. Internal pelvic floor work has actually been very successful for me and has helped many of my other symptoms significantly.

My current action plan:
My pelvic floor specialist has instructed me to use diazepam suppositories every other day until August 27. If there’s still no improvement by then, she mentioned trying lidocaine injections or Botox. Hearing injections mentioned honestly terrified me and made me worry that my case must be unusually severe, even though I’m only six weeks into this.
So far, the suppositories don’t seem to be doing much for the spasms. They work for a few hours then come right back. I tried using one rectally because vaginal use was irritating, but I’m wondering whether I should try vaginally again since the very first suppository I used that way did seem to help.

I’m currently in PPT and the spasms appear to be getting worse after internal work even though it’s helping other aspects like lower back and hip pain.

If anyone reads this post and experienced spasms or is knowable about them can you please tell me what helped you. I’m worried this is going to be my new normal and my anxiety is through the roof.

PFD and glute and leg pain?

Hi all-

I was diagnosed with pelvic floor disorder on Tuesday and already went to PT for my assessment this past Thursday. I’m going on 2 weeks of discomfort that seems to be evolving and not in a good way.

At first I was losing my mind over the uti burn for 8 days but it was literally released after just 2 days of at home stretches the PT gave (def a win). I did notice my tailbone was really sore and it hurt to sit but because I was so hyper focused on my burning it was background noise. Now that the burning stopped all I feel is the tailbone burn and my legs feel electric and tight almost like they are guarding non-stop 24/7 anytime I lay down or sit.

PLEASE TELL ME THIS IS FIXABLE WITH PT. What is happening?? Is this nerve irritation? How will the PT how me with this?

Please Help- Diagnosed with Pelvic Floor Disfunction Today/flair

To my PFD community,

I never thought I would turn to Reddit but after 8 days of uti like burning I’m desperate.

About a month ago I did egg freezing successfully. Once it was over I really wanted to have my hot girl summer and treat myself to all the procedures starting with Brazilian laser hair removal. I had a really stressful week leading up to it with work travel, a new role, an ocular migraine that caused a panic attack, and being nervous before the laser. It ended up being painless but I was tensing so afterwards I fully relaxed and forgot about it. Around noon the next day I started feeling uncomfortably tingly and overstimulated in the treatment area. This feeling came and went. The next day it slowly started burning only to fully turn into what I thought was full blow uti including urgency to pee. After several days of it not improving I started getting horrific panic attacks with full body shaking and tremors that would last hours. I full lost my appetite and sleeping is difficult. The burning seems to come and go with different intensities throughout the day. On Saturday the pain was even gone for over 24 hours which felt like it was improving. However, the panic has made it impossible to relax and the burning always seems to return or stay in the wings.

After a negative uti and yeast test I got an emergency urology appointment where following the exam I was diagnosed with a pelvic floor disfunction where my body tightened up and during the exam my doctor said she felt a spasm. She concluded the egg freezing and laser were 2 triggers to bring this with the laser being the one to escalate symptoms.

Some days are worse than others and my urgency has gone away/it doesn’t hurt to go to the bathroom anymore. All that remains is the internal burn and I’m not noticing it hurts to sit on hard surfaces and I have to use a pillow.

PT is 3 weeks out and I’m just desperate for pain release. Is this going to be my new normal forever or for months/years? All the stories online are scaring me. My doctor said this is temporary and just a flair and I will get back to baseline following PT but I’m so scared.

Please help in any way you can.

Signed a very scared girl who just wants her life back.
