Opinions on engine flush?

I recently changed the valve cover on my 330ci and whilst I tried to be careful I’m sure some small bits got in, so I’m changing the oil after a few miles of driving to be safe.

What are peoples opinions on using an engine flush if I’m already changing the oil. I’ve heard mixed things, as some people say they dislodge sludge which can block the oil pickup feed.

Vice grip soft jaw slipped and scored piston - do I need to replace it?

I had soft rubber jaws for my vice grip as recommended but they slipped and scored the intake Vanos piston, I can feel the scratches with my finger. Is it okay to use or should I replace the unit.

Thankyou

Plastic piece broke into engine 😢

Doing the valve cover on my 330, and as I pulled it off one of the plastic bits snapped off and flew into the area with the arrow. It’s around half the size of the plastic piece imaged. I tried retrieving it with tweezers but no luck and I think I might have pushed it further down.

What should I do next?

Temporary fix?

Just snapped the ccv breather hose whilst changing my valve cover. Any advice for temporary fixes until the replacement part arrives?

Got ripped off buying a rusty e46, borrowed a welder and learnt to weld instead of scrapping it 🫡🫡

With limited budget and not much mechanical knowledge I couldn’t afford to pay for professional bodywork done, so I was faced with scrapping the car. Not the best welding but a whole lot better than the rust before and nothing an angle grinder and some filler can’t fix.

Advice for protecting against corrosion?

Very excited to install these new ST XTA coilovers for my 330ci, but I was wondering if anybody had advice/tips on how to protect them against corrosion/damage as I live in the UK which has very wet and salty roads in winter.
Cheers

What suspension components require a professional alignment after?

Over the next few months I’m planning on doing a full front and rear suspension refresh/upgrade. My question is what suspension components when I change should get a professional alignment done and which ones I can eyeball, as I don’t want to pay for multiple alignments/get one after each component upgrade as they’re not cheap!
Cheers 😊

What size are these o-rings?

Tracked the source of my e46 coolant leak to those o-rings on one of the hard lines under the intake manifold. The pipe is genuine BMW and only 6 months old so I don’t really want to replace it, just the o-rings. Cheers

Any experience with M3 front sway bar and convertible rear?

I’m planning on replacing my sway bar bushes as thought I might as well upgrade them whilst I’m there 🤣 I’ve seen a common OEM upgrade is putting m3 in the front and thicker one from the convertible in the back, but I’ve not seen anyone talking about how it actually drives compared to stock or more expensive kits. Cheers

Wetsuit advice?

Hi guys I got a new wetsuit a couple of weeks ago, to make it easier to get into but also so I could squeeze a fleece underneath in winter I copped it a couple sizes too big.

Do you reckon I should go down a size? I’ve been struggling with the cold despite having extra layers underneath :(

Any tips for taking this bolt off?

Looking for wheel spacer inspiration!

Got some freshly refurbed style 68s for my 330ci, but the fitment looks a little off at the moment. I’m running 225 7.5j in the front and 245 8.5j in the rears. I was thinking of using 20mm spacer in the rear and a 15mm in the front.

If people could send me photos of their spacer setups that would be great :))

Should I replace this board?

I’ve had this board for a year or so but I’ve not been able to use it much. I was packing my car and it was sat for about an hour in the heat and I found this large bubble. Since transporting I’ve also noticed a lot of other dings. My question is if I pop the bubble and reseal the top, is the board still worth riding or should I start looking for another? Thanks :)

What could be causing this sound? Just did cooling system refresh

Earlier today I did cooling system refresh (ET, hoses, thermostat, water pump) and the car is running fine no issues. However later as I was cleaning the engine bay I noticed a new noise that’s not present all the time. I know one of the right idle pulleys is bad but wasn’t make this sound before, could the new water pump be bad?

The noise is not always happening btw, it’s on and off

Any idea what could be causing this sound?

I thought it could be a bad pulley, but it goes away when I put the clutch in. Car is running and driving fine, but the sound is annoying. Any help would be appreciated 🙏🙏 it’s a pre facelift 330ci

Tyre recommendations for style 68

Just got a set of freshly refurbed staggered style 68s (17, 8.5j/7.5j) for my 330ci. Looking for some tyre recommendations as all the posts I’ve seen on this are quite old. I live in the uk, the car is driven a few times a week as a mix of fast/spirited driving and also daily/long journeys. I’ll need something that’s good in rain as well given UK weather 🙃. Pic of car/wheels

Grabbed two e46s for a great deal 😎

Got this (orient blue?, not sure on colour) 330ci and Oxford green 318ci as a two for one. Excited to have a new project for the summer!

How much should I expect to pay for a manual m3 coupe? (UK)

I’m looking to buy a manual m3 coupe in the near future, and the market (at least for the UK) seems a bit all over the place and it’s hard to tell what’s a good deal and what’s not. What should I be looking to pay for something that’s not mint, just a car that’s not been too abused (for an m3 🤣). I wouldn’t mind high miles as long as the service history is good.

Want to lower my car slightly and make the ride more stiff/sportier so looking at coilovers. My budget is around £1000 ($1200-1400). What recommendations do people have? Ideally something with camber adjustment :)
