Go to Japan for integrated Research Mastes+phD programm in signals processing, how i am likely to get a job with decent pay afterwards?

I am finishing even school EE in Eastern Europe (country near Russia) and we have very weak local market for any advaned high-tech role, besides getting remote offer. Durring my studies i did the least with practical EE studies, and mostly did it with applied math, cause it was accessible without lab. Now i am planning to go to Japan for M+D grad school program in signals processing (for 3-5 years), what the chances i am not going to waste next 5 years of my life with doing so and returning home bc of tough market? I am planning to apply for research positions on companies as Sony, in ML or signals processing. Will my pay suck?

Did atomoxetine helped you to avoid dopamin seeking patterns as smoking, scrolling, and seating on reddit instead of doing job?

I tried to joke about reddit, don't know if it worked. Will be happy to hear your expirience ⬇️
I am on 4th day of 25mg, first day i thought i have some effects, but obviously this just seems to be a placebo. I will continue, but wondering if that thing will help with my scrolling addiction in the future

Are there any chance to find a job after Masters or phD in mathematic and computational science as a foreigner?

I don't think my Japanese level would rich N2 in a two year sprint while doing Masters, and i would like a job right after that, my fields are supposed to be general Machine learning, inference optimization and natural language processing - the question is how well is that presented in the country, as far as i can see there enough opporunitites for research position in Sony, Riken, etc. But a few on the CS market where you really don't need to have strong Japanese, i only can rely on being just above the average with just above the average experience and be hired, it's sounds terrible but i still would like to get a reality check on whether or not it can be possible

CS researcher here. Do the Masters in Advanced Computing in Tsinghua worth doing it?

Hey guys, i am 25M from Belarus, considering work towards CGS and pursue Masters in Advanced Computing international program in Tsinghua. I've seen that on LinkedIn for position in companies like NVIDIA, there 2-20 applicants on job posting. And i was shocked, it made me think the China is a good place to run research in HPC and distributed ML training, with possibility to continue into big US firms. But at the same time i am wondering what the probability for foreigner to get into that field. Cause the only places job done in my field is either Chines University labs, or Intel, NVIDIA, AMD. It's a huge risk for me to rely only on these factors, and i want to know what you guys think. Worth it persuing, or in reality there nothing to do in China for foreigner in my field?

I had EE undergrad, had ok backgorund in applied math, some physics, and had expirience building AI infra as MLOps. waiting for you in the comment!

I am EE student planning to do masters in Germany, how can i even consider CS?

Hey guys, 25M from Belarus here. Evening school EE student major in controls, 4th year out of 5. So finishing soon (hope for it to happend). Planning about applying for Masters in Europe but have hell no idea what is German job market look like. I would like to have a stable salary as EE, but looks like CS has way better paying job, even though more stressful. During my studies i haven't done too much with electronics - i worked full time and studied applied math, physics, other staff, to find job later on locally. Locally (in my country) it's almost no well paying job for EE engineers. So i haven't really paid attention also. But now considering German job market, i realize there not so much to do with just CS Masters, it's probably the same as every where else - finding job is quit tough challenge. But even in Belarus i mostly do vibe coding AI engineer job, while qualified for R&D. I am considering between two options:

  1. Continue journey to R&D Software positions through CS Masters in Germany
  2. Stop dreaming and push towards controls/PCB designer roles

What the hell i should pick based on what's going on in the world?
Would appreciate your help

EE undergrad with Applied Math focus & AI Engineer experience: Is an MS in Europe the right path to Nvidia/AMD, or should I pivot?

Looking for a brutal reality check on my plan to break into the EU deep-tech market.

Right now, I'm finishing a part-time Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering in Eastern Europe. Honestly, my circuit design and PCB skills are pretty weak, but I have a solid foundation in applied math and linear algebra. Job-wise, I'm working as an AI Engineer, but let’s be real-it’s mostly high-level API wrapper "vibe coding" in Python, not deep R&D. I also know some basic C++.

My ultimate goal is to escape the unstable outstaffing market in my region and work on serious deep-tech like HPC, Edge AI, or Signal Processing at companies like Nvidia, AMD, Apple, or Infineon.

Since I have an EE background, pure Computer Science Master's programs in the EU (looking at Germany, Netherlands, Austria) will probably reject me based on credit requirements. My plan is to apply for an EE, Systems, or Automation Master's instead, using it as a legal backdoor to get into the EU and get access to student internships.

I have a few major doubts about this:

First, is it actually realistic to pivot into Edge AI, DSP, or Compiler optimization via an EE Master's if I'm not a pro at hardware and microelectronics?

Second, will an EU Master's actually give me a fighting chance at Big Tech internships, or will I just lag too far behind local CS graduates?

Finally, what should I absolutely grind right now to prepare? Should I focus on modern C++, CUDA, or computer architecture?

I am 25M, Eastertn Europe

EE undergrad with Applied Math focus & AI Engineer experience: Is an MS in Europe the right path to Nvidia/AMD, or should I pivot?

Hi everyone,

I’m in a bit of a career crossroads and would love some brutal honesty and advice from people working in the EU tech industry (especially at companies like Nvidia, AMD, Apple, Infineon, etc.).

My Background:

  • Education: Finishing my part-time/evening Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (Eastern Europe). Honestly, my hardware/circuit design skills are weak, but I have a strong foundation in Applied Mathematics and linear algebra.
  • Work Experience: Currently working as an AI Engineer. To be fair, it’s mostly high-level API integration and "vibe coding" rather than deep R&D, but I know Python, ML,DS,DL basics, and some C++.
  • The Dilemma: In my home region, the IT market is heavily reliant on outstaffing and is becoming increasingly unstable. I want to work on meaningful, deep-tech products with stable income, ideally in High-Performance Computing (HPC), Edge AI, or Signal Processing. My dream is to get into R&D at hardware giants.

The Plan: I’m considering applying for a Master’s degree in Europe (Germany, Netherlands, Austria) because it seems like the only realistic legal pathway to enter the EU job market and get access to internships. Due to my EE Bachelor's, I will likely have to apply for Electrical Engineering / Automation / Systems Engineering MS programs rather than pure Computer Science.

My concerns:

  1. I’m afraid that a Master’s degree won't give me enough hard engineering skills to compete with local graduates, especially since my hardware background is weak.
  2. Is it realistic to pivot into Edge AI, DSP, or Compiler/HPC optimization through an EE-adjacent Master’s program without being a pro at PCB design or microelectronics?
  3. What specific skills should I grind right now to be competitive for internships (Nvidia/AMD/etc.) once I land in Europe? (e.g., modern C++, CUDA, computer architecture?)

P.S. asked gemini to make my thoughts clear for this post, it's fully reviewed

Why would you choose working in robotics instead of EE ?

I am serious, just want to know opinion about it, bc EE jobs offer a very stable income and job security, and i know many EE's goes for robotics, and i have no idea why tbh.

Is that true about IT-engineers shortage in country or is it a marketing to some sort?

There a lot of foreigners want to move in Japan, just because it's Japan. Having a unique culture and nature. But what it the actual truth? I see people with phD and N2 can't get a job.
I don't even mention other fields as microelectronics or just EE for any foreigner - which is seems to be quit unreal to get a job in, if you just normies. Would you share?

Entering a market at 30yo ?

TLDR: I am from Belarus, 25yo, finishing EE degree(4/5 year of study), planning to get MEXT research internship, here and there I will be graduating at 30yo. Now I am working as a low tier AI engineer. I want to change it for better and more meaningful work and lifestyle, thus considering research. Should I go for masters program with research internship ML/embedded systems? Or is it taken too much of my time?

Would it be unrealistic to expect get a job or to build career even towards electronics later? Am I supposed to look out for IT roles or classical engineering is a solid choice?

Will i be able to land an internship in electronics industry in japan being 30yo ?

Hey, i am 25yo from Belarus, 4th out of 5years electrical engineering student. I am graduating at 2027, Planning to move to japan in 2028, and finish masters. By the time of graduation i will be around 30yo, i am thinking if i will be able to land any intern job, or any job after graduation? Will I encounter ageism?
Consider i wil have N3-N2 Japaness.
I am targeting electrical engineering roles as embedded, controls engineerign, PCB design.
Maybe i should consider go towards more IT roles as robotics, ML, etc ? (even though i heard this market is almost entirely vibe coding now, i am more gravitated towards research than prompting, thus also consider classical engineering industries)

What do you think?

What the best field from prospective of job hunting after graduation with MEXT ? EE student

Hello, i am from Belarus (25yo), i am EE student, planning to apply for MEXT in next year. I am 4th out of 5 years student and planning to apply for research route. I am still in search of field to research, i have a solid background in Machine Learning, controls, electrical engineering. Little to do with electronics in particular but might improve it. I am thinking if i better to study something related to information technologies as edge ML, or distributed learning. Or better to take classical engineering route as controls in manufacturing. I am thinking of what the job market will look like in 4 years, as estimation of my graduation, and i have no idea what is going to be better field for foreigner. I am awared of necessity to be fluent in Japaness, it's ok. But i highly doubt i can be accepted in classical manufacturing/ electrical engineering as a foreigner. What the field you would choose? My degree is really broad and gave me a broad view on everything from microcontrollers and FPGA to recommendation systems, would be happy for any suggestions.
