My first ever stream.
This is the analytics from my first ever stream. I have a lot of things to fix. Mostly things that are way outside my skill set. I think I will get it. Is this about average? Or bad? I literally have no idea.

Alright ladies, and gents. I’d love to start by apologizing. I’m not very techy. I really don’t know how to do this stuff. I sat in front of my computer for hours with two cell phones rocking CHAT gpt. Asking questions on 1. Taking pictures of the screen with the other. Just typing, and clicking away like the dumb bastard I am.
This path stretched out in front of me when I was asked to stream my regular poker game, so the guys who couldn’t make it could check in/watch. I went to this fella I know at work who lives in this realm. Asked a few questions, and started research. It seemed possible to have some moderate success in this field, so I started planning and designing.
My first actual stream was this past Saturday night. (Aug 8/2026) I had 4 cameras running on an auto scene change. There were some audio issues. I think I fixed most of those. I have some lag/sync issues, minor enough, but I really don’t know what I am doing. I am kind of proud of my analytics for my first stream. I think they show potential. I had 28 unique viewers, and averaged 2. Peaked at 4.
My ADHD caused some pretty wild hyper focus on set up, so I went way overboard. I built a twitch channel, YouTube channel, and merch store like the big dumb bastard I am. I don’t even actually care about sales or monetizing I just started having fun, and got obsessed. Any ideas, on how to sync these cameras? I have a background in audio production so I think I’ll have that tuned up once I upgrade to one omnidirectional microphone. Open to criticism on all fronts.
*I still don’t know/understand what “flair” is, sorry if I am breaking rules*
Just wanted to give an update after finally running the setup for a full stream last night.
First off, thank you to everyone who has helped me along the way. I started this project knowing basically nothing about OBS, cameras, networking or livestreaming, and the advice I’ve gotten here has been a huge help.
Overall, I’m pretty damn happy with how the first run went. We got multiple cameras working, automatic scene rotation running, audio working and managed to keep the whole thing going without any major disasters.
Definitely still lots to improve, but V1 actually works!
I did run into one weird issue that I’d love some opinions on.
Two people tried watching and got a completely black screen with normal audio. Meanwhile, I checked the stream myself and had a clear picture, and another person watching from a different location also had perfectly good video.
So the video was definitely making it out.
Has anyone experienced this before? Is there something with bitrate, encoding, Twitch, certain devices/connections, or an OBS setting that could cause SOME viewers to get audio but a black screen while everyone else sees the video normally?
Thanks again to everyone who helped me get this thing running. I genuinely appreciate it.
Now I get to start figuring out V2.
I posted here months ago. I was asked by some interested parties to live stream some of my activities/hobbies. I came to you guys looking for guidance, and some knowledge. Thank you very much to those who took the time! I have researched the areas that were suggested and acquired enough gear for a rudimentary live stream. I am currently working and rigging this gear together, and if shit starts working properly. My first actual stream should be Saturday(tomorrow) around 8. Because of my niche interests the best fit for a camera I could find was a “Tapo c110” according to all my research it’s compatible with OBS. I am having some trouble getting it to work. Any suggestions?
Hey, just to introduce myself. I am a 37 year old Canadian man. I host a lot of IRL game sessions. I hold a monthly poker game. Several shuffleboard matches. I play in a cornhole league. A lot of scrabble etc. the list goes on frankly.
I have had some requests to start live-streaming my poker games. I know nothing about the space, I have been doing some research, and trying to familiarize myself with the idea to make an informed decision. I honestly feel like the audience wouldn’t really be there.
I do a lot of adventuring seadoo, paddle board, mountain hiking. With the gear I already have I could easily stream some of that. Is that better? I don’t really need to even do a stream I just feel like I would need to fill in the gaps if you consider my poker game is only once a month.
Give me some thoughts, I am all over the map, and outside my depth.
*EDIT. I don’t know what “flair” to add. Sorry.*
