JP Enhanced Gas Ring improved my MCX reliability

I recently picked up an Sig MCX Rattler LT (300BLK, 6.75" barrel) upper, and a CAT RAT suppressor, and have been experimenting with different ammo. On my first range trip, I had a number of failures to feed. I followed the advice of Jake ( u/Sharp-Independence52 ) from JBD Designs ( https://jbddesigns.com/product/jp-enterprises-223-enhanced-gas-ring-for-use-with-mod-2/ ) and tried out a JP Enhanced Gas Ring ( https://s3802.americommerce.com/JPEGR-223.aspx ). On my second range trip I experienced flawless functioning across all the ammo I tried—a dozen ammo types. Thus, the JP Enhanced Gas Ring did something good for my Sig MCX.

If you're having reliability issues, probably worth a try. At $10.95, seems like a great place to start.

Wrench flats are a must

I’m finding wrench flats to be very useful on a regular basis. I typically use them to remove my suppressors but some folks use them to snug them down when attaching as well.

FYI, these wrenches work well:

They have a thin profile and I typically use them by attaching them so I can just squeeze them like a hand brake to release the tension. Only takes a few seconds.

I recently received a CAT RAT, and while I’m very happy with its performance, it was a real challenge yesterday taking it off despite the fact that I have three different strap wrenches. Had to bring it home and use my vice.

The two images above are of the CAT ST. The HUB version has flats and the QD version does not. The HUB version needs flats to install a mount, but they are optional on the QD. I’ve noticed that some QD CAT suppressors have flats, some don’t. I would like to suggest that you make it a standard feature to include. I’ve been interested in the potential benefits of QD but it’s disappointing the ST QD doesn’t have flats. This makes it a hard choice, and is pushing me toward the Tisha which was designed for HUB.
