Zepto selling edibleproducts mixed with soap / shampoo. What are my options here
A few days ago I placed a Zepto order. One of the items was an Indomie Special Chicken Flavour Family Pack.
I was busy that day and didn't inspect the groceries after delivery.
Today I decided to make the noodles. The outer packaging felt greasy and had some blackish spots on it. I assumed it was just dirt or maybe oil from another item, so I threw the outer wrapper away.
When I picked up the individual packets inside, all five of them had the same slippery/oily coating. I thought some oil had leaked during delivery, so I washed one of the packets. As soon as water hit it, it started forming bubbles like shampoo or liquid soap.
I still assumed the noodles inside would be fine because the packet was sealed. I cooked one packet, but the first bite literally tasted like shampoo. I had already swallowed a little before I realized something was wrong. Since then, my throat has been sore.
I have 4 unopened packets left exactly as they are. I haven't touched them further, and Zepto can collect them for testing if needed.
I've already sent a detailed complaint to Zepto asking them to investigate. If they don't respond properly, what are my legal options?
Some questions:
Should I file a complaint with FSSAI immediately or wait for Zepto's response?
Should I get the remaining packets tested independently? If yes, where can that be done?
Is this something that can be taken to the consumer commission?
Should I preserve anything else as evidence besides the remaining packets, photos, and the order details?
I'm not looking to make money off this. I genuinely want to know how something like this could happen because it's a serious food safety issue.
Any advice would be appreciated.
