Newly Adopted cat struggling with multiple issues.

Hi! Last week I emergency adopted peanut who is a lovely and friendly adult male cat.

He is 2 years old, healthy weight according to the vet, unneutured, eating and drinking well.

  1. Diharrea

Peanut wasn’t that bad when he first came, but over the week he has started to develop near constant diharrea and I cannot understand why. I have kept him on the same food the previous owners gave him, give him plenty of fresh water and everything he should need. This is really difficult to deal with as he constantly gets covered in poo and will trample it all about the living room and most of all I just want to make sure he is okay. I took him to the vets for this 2 days ago and she said he looks fine but his diharrea frequency has increased since then and I don’t know if I’m being paranoid or if this is normal for a newly rehomed cat over the first few weeks.

  1. Constant endless crying.

Peanut is constantly crying and yapping through doors because he wants me to be in the room with him or because he wants to go outside. The previous owners had him outside all of the time and with me having recently adopted I cannot let him out. He also claws at windows and doors to try to get out, and if I let him out of the living room where his litter box is located he just pees and poos all over the floor outside the litter box while searching for ways to escape. The crying can go on for multiple hours at a time and is really hard to deal with, it seems like he will only stop if he thinks I have left the house but if he sees, hears or knows I’m nearby he will just begin crying and crying until I come - then when I am in there he can begin crying endlessly looking outside.

I’m assuming that these two issues are the cause of the previous owners being too neglectful to bother neutering him, and just adjusting to a new place but I am feeling really upset at his condition - because of this behaviour I am basically having to keep him locked in the living room all day and I am constantly having to spend hours with him to stop his crying which is starting to negatively affect me. The vet has said to leave neutering until he settles a bit more and the diharrea stops, but that just doesn’t seem as tho it is going to happen anytime soon, in fact he is getting worse. What can I do to make things better?
