Midlife crisis - best locations

Technical diver about to turn 40. Due to some unique but also tragic events I have the opportunity to move and live anywhere in the US. I’m evaluating multiple locations in Florida. Current not cave certified but I would like to be eventually but up to this point I’ve been and ocean diver. Most of my diving has been out of NC. I love the diving but I’m tired of getting blown out every other weekend. If you were having a midlife crisis and had the means to move anywhere in Florida what location would you pick to optimize accessibility to the most technical dive sites?

Missed dose of Methizamole

Just making a statement. I’m generally pretty diligent about taking my Methimazole but due to some issues this morning at the house I missed my dose. This afternoon I find myself sitting in a meeting with a racing heart and think oh $h!t. Checked the pill box and quickly realized that the problem. Glad I had a pill box to show me that I had missed a dose. Also found it interesting how quickly my body set off the alarm. Thyroidectomy coming soon. I’ll be glad to switch to a different pill.

Dose decrease woes.

My doctor had me on 20 mg of Methimazole then dropped the dose to 5 mg. In a week I could feel my symptoms returning so I called the doctor and they had me do bloodwork. My T4 went from 0.69 to 1.14 and my T3 went from 83 to 163 a week after the dose change. My doctor just messaged me and want me to stay at 5 mg. I’m new at this but to me this doesn’t seem like the right call. Is is normal to go up that much in one week on a proper dose. The math isn’t making sense here. I plan to message my doctor to clarify the course of action but I’m frustrated. I canceled my weekend plans because my symptoms were back and now my doctor wants to continue on. Has anyone experienced this kind l increase without a dose adjustment from the doctor?

Welding

Certified Welding Inspector here. This is a bit of a rant but also hopefully informative. If you are specifying welding and are not familiar with welding and its requirements please seek out training or an consultant. I have seen far too many engineers simply specify welding and inspection to AWS D1.1 without understanding what that actually means. There are several decision points in the code that must be made and specified by the engineer. Examples include whether a structure is cyclically loaded, CVN toughness criteria, and extent of verification inspection. These items are all called out in Clause 1 as the engineers responsibility.

Why are this information important?
It is needed to properly apply code requirements. For example table 8.1 Visual Weld Acceptance criteria has different acceptance criteria for statically loaded and cyclically loaded connections.

If you miss providing critical information the best thing that can happen is an RFI but relying on contractors to catch your errors is risky business and a really bad drawing QC plan. Worst case you have a structural failure and your foundation at fault because you failed to include code required information.
