Question for current CS students

So I have got into UofC for CS because surprisingly the average was only like an 80 to get in. I got in early admission and I have been thinking since then if this is the right place for me. Obviously with AI and junior roles being offshored, entry level jobs in Canada are scarce.
I’m willing to put the work in. Get 4.0 gpa and do clubs, projects and build my own apps.

I’m just wondering if doing this would even get me an internship? Because I’m still gonna be competing against kids at Waterloo, UofT and UBC for internships and despite by stats, I don’t want to be overlooked because of my university. Kids there don’t have to have a high gpa to land in internships yet I’m afraid having 3.7+ gpa would still not be enough.

Should I take the UofC offer? Would grinding here be worth it to get internships?

Do you think a 93-94 average will get in engg during August?

So the competitive admission average for this year is 92 and I’m curious if people think a 93 could get in during the final round in July and August. Maybe someone who got into Eng previous years during this time with a certain percentage above admission average?

I’m curious because don’t want to waste my time on this if I’m not gonna get in. It’s messing my head up too much.

Need some advice in this dilemma

So I got into UofA, and UofSask for Engg. I want to go for UofC Engg though because of the costs. I also got into buisness at UofA and UofC aswell.

I accepted all offers and payed the deposits alongside the residence fees which weren’t much.

I hope to finish with 93+ being close to a 94 to get in July admission for UofC.

Do you think I will get any trouble for canceling my acceptances really late? I know it’s possible and many kids do it but engg the facilities are quite strict so I don’t want any trouble. I just can’t afford the high cost of residence and the meal plan. If I don’t get into UofC, I will just go to UofA and thug it out. Pay for it using internships and jobs.

But I really need UofC engg.

I’m in a messy situation. Has anyone been or is in a Similar situation?

Rate my engg fall schedule

Morning labs on Fridays seemed like the best option for alternating chem and physics because the other ones would be till really late. Thursday seems like a good rest day to sort of relax and get stuff for other classes done and prepare for the lab the next day. Nothing too early and nothing too late. Besides the engg 100 seminar which is fixed.
Wanted pattern 2 but quite happy with pattern 4.

Apologies for horrible picture.

Hate against Sikhs from Indians(surprised?)

So arshdeep singh, the cricket player made some comments about skin colour on some fellow cricket players. He made fun of their dark skin complexion. He made jokes talking about they are so dark you can’t see them in the night and other that are similar along the lines.

HE deserves backlash! Cook him, roast him. Hold him accountable. I think HE should apologize for his comments.

But why are some lowlifes bringing sikhi, and the sikhi identity into the convo? Mainstream Indians have made colourist remarks before, but it’s probably the first time someone’s religion is brought up. Instead of clowning the guy, no they clown something that is irreverent to his behaviour or comments.
I know not everyone is, but a fair amount are online.

I understand the crowd is likely not smart, they are probably the ones to rot in the their mothers basement doing fck all.
But I find it hilarious how these chuds take any moment, literally any opportunity to bring up the sikh religion or identity, when it has no correlation.

I also love how these comments are also mostly online. They are only tough when grouped together or behind a screen.

Just wanted to share with the community.

UofA first year Engg course FULL

So I’m making my schedule now(pattern 4) and a fixed time class of mine(chem 103) is full. It’s my only option because it’s what my pattern says yet I can’t register for it.
I’m so confused on what to do because we were given a pattern and told we can only register for these ones. Now it’s full so do I have to take it over the summer or what? I thought that classes for first year engg were basically guaranteed.

Edit: figured it out gang

UofA first year engg classes

Hi so I’m going into first year Engg and haven’t made my first year schedule yet and haven’t done the course registration. I have Been busy really busy with school work so I haven’t had time.

I’m curious about the classes and in first year Engg and traveling between them and too and from residence. I’m assuming because we are given the schedule and it’s all sort of standardized, we don’t have to worry about walk time or anything like that. I will likely be living in lister residence. At least that’s the one I put.

Just want to make sure and confirm this before I sign up or do anything.

Also side note, when do residence offer start coming in?

So I have adhd and god knows what else and when I have things that are uncertain or things I’m not sure about my brain really just can’t handle it and goes haywire. I really need any answer with any substance from anyone please.

I didn’t get into engineering during standard admission and I’m essentially waiting to get a response hopefully in August. UofC recently released admission averages for engg with math 31 and it is 92.
I’m projecting to finish with a 93 or above with my max being a 94(if I get insanely lucky).

I’m just curious if I have a chance? No diplomas first semester inflates the marks and I think many people will bomb the ones in second semester, primarily English.
I understand no one can predict; but just historically, can a grade that is 1 or 1.4 percent above the admission average get in during August?
I’m not looking for validation but just a genuine response so I can stop having panic attacks and going crazy.

Hi so I’m an upcoming engineering student. I have a problem and a few questions.

I have not received my timetable after ranking them after paying my deposit. It has been longer than 5 business days. This has been really stressing me out.

And now for course registration, the enrolment date is may 11. I’m a highschool student so I will be OTW to school or in class.
So does doing it in the afternoon increase the chances of the class I need becoming filled? Or is it more organized for engg students so I can realistically do it whenever because we already get the time tables with our classes picked for us.
