I come to you today with cap in hand. I'd like to admit I was wrong.
About 25 years ago I bought my first Motörhead album, The Best of. I was a young man, finding his feet musically. I enjoyed a few songs but it didn't really grab me. A short while later I picked up Ace of Spades and figured I'd give an entire album a go in hopes it'd spark something. Once again, it didn't really grab me.
That was basically my Motörhead journey for the best part of 25 years. I just figured they weren't for me. Renewed interest in 2015 when they were announced to play Download fest in 2016, but obviously that wasn't meant to be. Even so, I couldn't get in to them.
Fast forward to May of this year and I found Overkill (with the additional live album) for really cheap. One last hail mary?
I don't know why, but after all this time it finally hit. I loved every minute of both the studio and accompanying live disc. I quickly sought out more albums. Every month since I have added to the collection and will continue to do so until I have everything. Bring on September when I can afford to pick up a couple more.
Really sucks I couldn't have managed to see them live.
Better late than never though, right?
