Does anyone else feel torn about relationships in general after having an episode?
I feel selfish for wanting to be close to anyone. Keeping people I care about safely removed from any possible future episodes feels responsible/kind.
But then I wonder if my noble quest of isolation (lol) is actually more about protecting myself. It hurts to be alone but is strangely freeing too.
I came so close to reaching out to my best friend for the first time since my episode in 2023. But then I made the mistake of reading a post (in a different subreddit) with 3k upvotes about people resenting their loved ones with psychosis… it kind of broke my heart. I never want to make someone feel that way.
If anyone else has struggled with this, how did you navigate it?
