That feeling when you get 4 awesome items, Amazon ships them together as one, and the package is subsequently lost during shipment...

It's one thing to have one sweet Vine order go missing, and it's another when Amazon ships FOUR sweet items together, and they all get lost as one.

Not looking for anything other than to say... I am sad. I feel like this happens more and more in general with Amazon, and... I am sad. Did I mention I'm sad? I'm sad.

TS5 Plus thermal gun temperature.

Hey all,

So this is my second CalDigit TS5 Plus, and it also runs pretty warm. I'm curious as to whether this is generally expected. It's noticeably hotter to the touch than the TS4 I replaced, so I whipped out the thermal gun. Horizontal operation. This is pretty much idle, with a few low-power USB devices connected to the hub, my MacBook Pro M4 Max (not charging), and my LG 4K 160hz monitor (not even powered on, but connected). 76F ambient.

Any thoughts? Not having any connectivity issues, but I still wonder if this is to be expected...

BTW, I did some further testing with the TS5 Plus vertically, and it's about 1.5C cooler, so not worth the trouble.

Ran into him in the line. Such a good guy. Be well, Kelyn!

Well done, Noctua. You solved the AIO.

This is a follow-up post to my original here:

https://www.reddit.com/r/Noctua/comments/1u7vgts/do_i_get_the_360mm_aio_over_my_phantom_spirit_evo/

OK, so I'm a MAJOR AIO skeptic. Whether it's pump whine or fear of failure, I've never enjoyed using systems with AIOs. I had been using a Phantom Spirit 120 EVO for a while, and it's fine - not amazing, but just fine.

Just received my 360mm Noctua AIO a few hours ago, and I'm a convert. I cannot believe how quiet this thing. Initially I was VERY nervous turning this on for the first time, because despite setting the pump to QUIET mode (default out of the box), when you cold boot your PC the pump runs at full speed (in its loudest mode) for several seconds, and you can hear that easily (if you have ears). I was extremely disappointed, prepared to send it back, - until the sound... went away. That level of RPM is not attainable in Quiet mode anyway, and is just audible on boot for a few seconds. Phew!

After? Wow. Sweet, sweet silence. I have (had?) 7 case fans (all Noctua G2 140mms), and I installed Chromax fans on the 360mm AIO because Noctua enjoys my money too much. I cannot believe the temperatures+quietness of my PC now. Now it's 4x 140mm case fans + 3x 120mm AIO fans.

Specs:

MSI X870E Carbon, 9800X3D, MSI RTX 5090, 64GB DDR5-6000

Cinebench R23 with the AIO set stupidly aggressively quiet in the BIOS (550rpm default, no more than 1000rpm while benchmarking), and my 9800X3D set to default except for all cores -25, I hit 70C max temps. With my Phantom Spirit Evo 120? The fans were at 1600rpm and I would max out at 82C. That's a 12C drop.

Stock without the -25 all cores? 9800X3D tops out at 82C, whereas the PS Evo would hit 95C and give me red numbers in HWinfo64. 13C is nothing to sniff at, but many of you might ask why I would care?

Well, the key is the Noctua is doing all this and you cannot hear the computer unless you shut the door, close your eyes, and listen closely. At idle? I can't tell my PC is on except for the LED on the front. It's really that quiet, and I'm INSANELY sensitive to noise.

As a bonus, everything in my computer is running 5-7 degrees cooler. The VRMs, the system temperature - all of it.

Noctua, I salute you. I don't care how you did it, - I just love that you did. Now put out the Chromax version so I can feel bad about spending too much on this thing!

*EDIT*

Forgot to mention. With the Phantom Spirit Evo 120MM blowing air in the case, my RTX 5090 temperature at idle would creep up until the fans would kick in on the GPU, cool it off, and this process would repeat. With the air being expelled out the top of my case, my GPU sits at 0rpm idle, permanently. This is a welcome change!

Do I get the 360mm AIO over my Phantom Spirit Evo 120?

So here’s the deal. I have a 9800X3D/5090 build in my Phanteks P600S. I’m VERY sensitive to fan noise etc, and I have 7 case fans - all 140mm G2 Noctua, along with my Phantom Spirit Evo 120mm cpu cooler.

Will the 360 AIO from Noctua benefit me at all? I do find the Phantom Spirit Evo 120 to be a bit loud when gaming unless I made some bios adjustment (curve -20 works a treat) and it’s pretty quiet with that adjustment.

I’m just trying to figure out if an AIO is right for me, as I’ve never had one. Cost is not a factor, but whiny pumps or fast spinning fans at the top of the case would be audible to me.

What are your thought? Thank you!

Powerwall 3 calibration issue. Help!

Hey all,

Hopefully someone knowledgeable here can help explain what's going on with my Powerwall 3 (x2) setup. Every few months (3 I believe) it goes through a calibration routine where it drains to zero and then fully recharges. I use this only for backup 100%, as I have net metering. That appears to be normal operation.

However, on Monday of this week (it's now Friday) it decided it was time for a calibration so it started using the PW3 for powering the house as it does when discharging. At 43% SoC it stopped the discharging, and recharged to 100%. Then, some hours later, it started the process a second time, discharging to 45%, at which point it stopped, and started recharging to 100%. Some hours after it hit 100%, it started the process again, discharging to 17% this time. And now it's charging back up to 100% again.

What's going on here? This has been going on for 4 days and counting...

Thanks, all!

Do I need to replace this?

Hello, good and knowledgeable people. I was looking at my shut off today and it has a decent amount of rust on it. Is this just surface rust due to humidity in garage (PNW weather in the USA) or is this a critical failure waiting to happen. I believe it’s called a PRV?

Thanks, all!

REC 410AA Pure - failure?

Well this is a sad day. Been noticing one of my panels is down my pretty much exactly a third of production (using Enphase micros). Guessing this is a failed string/bypass diode in the panel, given there are three per panel. Boo. Lasted exactly 2 years. Pretty sad.

(Panel is clean, no shade etc etc).

I wonder how the stock situation is for warranty claims for these panels?
