My spouse and I work for not-for-profits. 3 kids going or in college. ParentPLUS loans are no longer PSLF-dischargeable. No ICR. All we say, every day, is just "wait 2 years"

We are just praying, literally praying, every day. Our SAI is $25,000 (I don’t know how, but it is). We planned around Parent PLUS loans being PSLF-eligible and some kind of reasonable repayments; we worked and would continue to do so until we were 70 if we had to, so that our kids could go to college just as we did.

Now, we just pray every day that the same government that took that eligibility away in a matter of weeks will restore it, or something like it, in two years.

It is all we can do: pray.

I feel so sad. I have one child who is a college sophomore, one going into their senior year of high school, and one going into their sophomore year of high school.

We are so sad. Two years. We are just praying for two years.

JMU Nursing, my daughter is devastated

So please help a parent understand, because JMU has not been helpful, and my daughter is devastated right now.

She entered this year as a freshman with six AP courses. She took four classes in the fall and four in the spring, earning a 3.75 GPA overall, including a 4.0 in HIST 150, a 4.0 in PSYCH 160, and a 3.7 in SOCOM 123. She is working two jobs this summer (putt-putt and a local deli) and volunteering 4–5 hours a week at a local adult day care—essentially every waking hour.

She is planning to take BIO 270 this spring, along with Art, Literature, and a course for the Chronic Illness minor.

She spoke with someone at JMU today and also with students, she says, who are currently in the nursing program.

They told her that the 3.7 in SOCOM means she will not be admitted, that the program is so competitive she should give up, and that she should transfer to Radford’s nursing program in the fall.

No one at JMU has been helpful. She has an advisor who, I am told, is rarely available and cannot answer direct questions. When asked point-blank whether the 3.7 means she has no chance, the only response was, “Well, she can retake it if she is not satisfied with her grade.”

At this point, it feels like JMU and JMU Nursing in particular do not care.

A 3.7 and you are out??!?!?

What happens in August 2026? Will Hegseth move to seize Scouting America?

Hegseth put the Boy Scouts over a barrel in February and demanded “many other positive changes in the next six months.”

That brings us to August 2026.

My council has been informed that one plan being discussed is for Hegseth to take direct control of Scouting America (similar to how Trump took over the “independent” Institute of Peace), and that a uniformed military person has been named, arguing that Scouting America violates its Congressional Charter:

> The purposes of the corporation are to promote, through organization and cooperation with other agencies, the ability of boys to do things for themselves and others; to train them in scoutcraft; and to teach them patriotism, courage, self-reliance, and kindred virtues, using the methods that were in common use by Boy Scouts on June 15, 1916.

Does anyone know anything about this? He opposes girls in Scouting, and my daughter is set to make Eagle in December. If he shuts it down or forces girls out, she will be very disappointed.
