United airlines job
If you got a job at United airlines, how did you get it? I have applied for 50+ jobs and I can’t even get a rejection letter. I work in IT and would take a big pay cut to work at United.

I just accepted a full time role. It’s 4-5 days a week in the office but it pays a lot more and I’m so happy to have a job. Here are my tips if you're just entering this subreddit.
For context, I was laid off nov 2025 and didn't really start to interview until jan 2025.
-My cobra plan was a total rip off. As a single person with no dependents, a marketplace plan was the better option for me.
-Even if you're doing all the right things (networking, applying, and improving a skill) you can't fill a whole day doing all this without losing your mind. Set a stopping point and do something you love. For me that was baking. I also asked around for free and affordable things going on throughout the week. Try to take advantage of something you couldn't do normally if you had a 9-5. Even if it doesn't feel like it, just remember it's temporary
-I set up a weekly touch point with my old team member who was more senior to discuss how we were translating our experiences at our previous companies into interviews. She would send me positions that were more junior and I would send her senior level positions.
I watched a lot of TV and in almost every show a character faces a layoff and they come out on a better side. In the entirety of the show, there may be 1 or 2 episodes dedicated to their struggles with the layoff, but it doesn't last entire show. It doens't even last a whole season! I hope that gives a little perspective. Here are a few I found:
-Mitch from Modern Family
-Jess from New Girl
-Shosh in Girls
-Ben Wyatt in Parks in rec (kinda)
Finally, this market is insane. Mediate, breathe, and remember that being laid off or being rejected from a position is not a reflection of your skills. No one can take away your education, experience or certifications.
Oh! Also, my offer letter took more than 3 weeks to come..the rules are out the window in this market.
I just got back from a legendary church rummage sale in the north suburbs. They had designer brands for so cheap. Does anyone know of any other church rummage sales that are well organized and have great brands?

I have been dog-sitting for the last 3.5 years for the same two dogs. I commute 30 min and am there l day from 8-6 and work from their apartment. They’ve never increased the daily rate of $65. All I do is 2 walks. Do you think it’s fair to ask for a higher rate? If so, what would you say is fair based on other day care daily rates? I’m in Chicago…
