I am sorry to report, Astronomy Picture of the Day has moved to a new site, and left its old school HTML formatting behind…

The APOD website (apod.nasa.gov) has been one of my most regularly visited pages for decades. It was my home page back when home page was a thing. I still check it every day. Today upon checking, the website has moved to science.apod.gov, and gotten a web design makeover to match the rest of NASA’s site design.

That page was the last place I visited that still used HTML. So sad to see it go, and with it, HTML’s nostalgic aesthetic.

(If anyone wants to recommend more science related HTML sites that are regularly updated, that would be awesome.)

This remote is wild. Andy Richter goes to the VMA’s, 1995. (Beware, there’s a brief but creepy Donald Trump appearance at one point).

In Yoyo’s first episode (S3e11), before she’s fluent in English, she’s talking to Mac about inhumans and Mac mentions terragenesis. She replies, “Terry…Genesis?”

Idk if I’ve been consuming too much comedy or what but Terry Genesis sounds like a New Zealand DJ to me. If it were a sketch, he’d be a DJ pastor in sunglasses proselytizing with really corny DNB and dubstep.

Every time I watch this (great) episode, I’m distracted by Terry Genesis.

Why do some shows have only one EP, when some shows have nearly a dozen Co-Executive Producer credits? (I’m watching Agents of Shield and there were so many co executive EP’s in the opening credits I lost count).

Does the number of EP’s tell us anything about the financial backstory of the production? Like they had to bring so many producers on for funding reasons? Wouldn’t fewer producers be preferable, the old “a camel is a horse designed by a committee” problem?

I’ve got a bit stuck in my head, and I want to make a clip of it, but I can’t remember which episode. Tracy says a line that ends in “…my performance.” Kenneth says to Tracy, something along the lines of “it was a great performance sir, but can you repeat it?” Tracy replies: “MY PERFORMANCE.”

What’s the episode? Thanks, nerds!

I haven’t heard a fan voicemail segment in a really long time… I miss them! They were always weird. does anyone know if there have been any recently I may have missed?

might be cool if they released an edit of all the voicemails they’ve received and never aired, like a “portrait of a fandom“ / roast the fans

There are so many good bits on the show about Greg being depressed and anxious, just wondering if he ever went on a podcast and talked about it in a serious way. If he hasn’t, that’s fine too. But I figured you uniquely encyclopedic fans would know for sure.

I’ve just come across articles from the 2010s hyping the “million dollar industry on our doorstep” and introducing impressive sales figures for possum leather golf gloves and merino-possum knitwear. The knitwear seems pretty popular today but I can’t find a single place online that sells possum leather, whether as gloves or anything else. Nor any companies producing possum leather. Anybody know what happened?

I did some research and found no instances of Möbius bread. disclaimer: my motivation is Möbius sandwich.

Watching series 19 ep 3 where Fatiah brought in an orange with “audacity” written on it - she says to Greg: “Yous lot got some fucking front, this’ll remind you to keep that front inside.” In the states “fronting” or “putting up a front“ is like faking or posing. Is that what she means or is it something else?
