Yamaha XSR 155 feels sluggish after 15,300 km service – anyone experienced this?

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for some advice regarding my Yamaha XSR 155.

My bike has around 15,700 km on the odometer. After the recent service, it doesn't feel the same anymore. It still starts fine, revs smoothly, reaches its top speed with a extra time comparing to before service, and my fuel economy has actually improved slightly. But the bike feels noticeably sluggish in every gear, especially during acceleration.

Here are a few things that happened during the service:

  • I asked for Yamalube Moto GP RS4 engine oil, but I'm not sure if the service center actually used it. I suspect they may have used the regular Yamalube instead, The SC has already did this to me on second service.
  • The chain was adjusted too tight initially. It has loosened up over time, but I still hear occasional chain noise.
  • NGK Iridium Spark plug { bought from amazon } was changed during the service and still having a doubt it might be fake.

Current symptoms:

  • Feels weak when accelerating in every gear.
  • No misfires or hesitation.
  • Engine revs freely in low RPM.
  • Still reaches top speed with a extra time.
  • Fuel efficiency is slightly better than before.
  • Occasionally hear chain noise.
  • It's also the windy season where I live, so I'm wondering if strong headwinds could be making the bike feel slower.

Has anyone experienced something similar after a service?

Could this be caused by:

  • Wrong engine oil?
  • Tight chain adjustment?
  • Spark plug issue?
  • ECU needing time to adapt?
  • Something else that the service center may have overlooked?

I'd appreciate any suggestions before I take it back to the service center.

Thanks in advance!
