“Unfortunately, the damage your son received to his head was ultimately fatal”

When Mary’s little brother Christopher got close to the Rat animatronic, something went wrong. The Rat Animatronic somehow became semi sentient and hit the young boy hard in the head. He was rushed to the hospital but the injuries he received from the hit were ultimately fatal. There was nothing the doctors could have done.

If there was a smell/scent mechanic in PoT, how would it work in a way that doesn’t make hiding/camouflaging impossible and doesn’t exactly pinpoint where you are but gives you a general idea of where you are (if that makes sense). Or should it be an upgradable ability? How do you think the mechanic should work?
