Can I go one size down?

Just received a pair of alpinestars missle v3, they are size 54, my thighs fit perfectly, the pants are not squeezing and they are very comfortable BUT the waist is too loose, I have the waist band strapped all the way. When I crouch the pants slide off my waist as you see at the end of the video.

My waist is smaller compared to my thighs, according to Alpinestars I should wear a 50 for my waist and 54 for my thighs.

My question is, should I exchange it with a size 52? looking at the video do you think one size down would fit my thighs, or after the break in period would it stretch enough? The size 54 I have needs 0 stretching.

The nearest place that has these pants is 2 hours away from me, I wouldn’t want to take a 2 hour trip if it’s not absolutely necessary.

Just a note, I have an alpinestars jacket that zips up. When I have them zipped up together I don’t have this issue but if I go down in an accident I wouldn’t want to rely on the zipper to keep my pants on my waist.

I’m 6ft 200lb, somewhat muscular build.

I’m absolutely speechless 😭

Everything started when I bought a pair of alpinestars smx6 boots last week, the shifting felt difficult, so I decided to adjust the shifter.

*Picture 1* the top nut on the shift shaft was completely seized. When I tried loosening it, the threads got messed up and it just started spinning in place. At that point I figured screw it I’ve always wanted a quick shifter anyway, so I ordered one. Also I ordered the stripped nut online.

*Picture 2* The quick shifter and the nut I needed arrived today, and while removing the stock setup, the linkage bolt was insanely tight. My hex key couldn’t break it loose and the bolt ended up getting stripped.

I was super pissed at this point, but I wasn’t going to giving up. I had a new plan, drill and extract the stripped bolt, and take it to a hardwarestore to find a replacement

*Picture 3* I went out, bought a brand new drill bit and bolt extractor, drilled deep into the bolt, got the extractor seated perfectly… and right when I was %100 sure the bolt was finally coming loose…

*Picture 4* happened.

I genuinely didn’t even know what to say. The only positive thing I can think of is maybe it’s just God’s plan. Maybe I wasn’t supposed to ride this weekend for a reason.

Either way, I’m not giving up. Now I’m probably gonna look for a totaled R7 nearby and grab the linkage part off it.

Wish me luck guys, I really need it LMAOO 😭😂🥲

Hard to shift

Just got a pair of mint condition used smx 6 boots. They’re absolutely fantastic but I never would guess how hard it would be to shift in these. It felt like learning to shift all over again. I’m assuming it’s normal until you get used to it. Just curious how long it took you guys to get used to it?

Size of the nuts on shifter shaft?

note before reading: the picture doesn’t belong to me.

Hi everyone, yesterday I was trying to adjust my shifter position, the left hand nut was stuck on the thread so I forced it a bit, more than I was supposed to, and it ended up messing the threads now its stuck on shifter shaft spinning in its place but not coming off. I thought this was a good time to order a quick shifter so I did. But after watching a couple install videos It looks like I will need the left hand nut on the bottom and the nut on the top to install the qs. I searched the internet to find what size nuts it is. I was just curious if anyone here knows it?

My plan B is to take the shaft to hardware stores and try it on until something fits. Thanks

Is it worth the $600

Hi people, I’ve been looking to buy one of these pants for a while now, I have a leather jacket from alpinestars also, so it would zip up together making it a suit.

I ride my bike everyday that’s not raining or under 50F, to work, to gym and any other place. once or twice a week I ride in the twisties to enjoy my bike.

Did any of you ended up buying a pair of leather pants just to use it a couple of times and didn’t bother wearing it after

Or is it something that’s actually worth investing in?
I know the answer highly depends on the person, I’m just looking for how it worked out for you.

Thanks!

Just done with the maintenance on it and I wanted to see if there’s other people who question their life choices while getting this sht on like me 🥲

At the end of the day, I’m happy, it’s definitely worth the extra hp…
