Me and my wife married 13 months ago in a different state. Been living in NC since marriage. We both work here in NC. We have decided to mutually apply for divorce. The pain point is waiting for one year separation. We have No kids. We are still in the process of deciding on the divorce and living in the same house. No Prenup.
I get more salary than her.
I own a house before marriage. I pay the mortgages and utilities from my personal account, my wife has not contributed anything directly towards mortgage and utilities.
We just maintain a joint investment account and she puts money in that joint account. She had loans prior to wedding but she cleared everything.
I have my own personal savings account, Personal investment account, 401K, HSA account and a car fully paid off. She doesn’t have full details on how much I have in my personal savings and investment accounts. I have been maintaining then before marriage.
What are some suggestions that I can get to prepare myself. I genuinely don’t want to get financially ruined. How can I prepare myself to save my personal money.
