buying used shoes?

hi guys,
i very recently started indoor bouldering.
i took a month long beginner class that included rentals. unfortunately my class is coming to an end this week which means ill have to pay for rentals each time. id honestly rather just buy a cheap pair off facebook thats used as the rental price will add up quickly

can anyone tell me what to look for and how to make sure the rubber is still usable?

ill try them on first to make sure they fit well, of course.

im also wondering how to decipher which brands will be most appropriate considering i honestly suck still (but im having fun and getting better all the time!)

ive only been climbing 3 weeks now so im not really concerned about having a good quality pair of shoes quite yet. im just learning fundamentals and think i should wait to worry about upgrading my footwear once i understand what works for me better

what am i supposed to wear?

hi everyone,

i recently lost my hobby ive been doing since i was 6. im pretty bummed out and have decided to try something new that would keep me physically active. lots of people recommended i try a climbing gym and i was able to find a local one that has beginner level bouldering classes.

the course is 4 weeks, 90 minutes every thursday, and includes a membership to go outside of class time as well. it says rentals are included which i think must mean the shoes? what am i supposed to wear for my pants and shirt?

im really nervous and dont know what to expect and im worried about embarrassing myself in front of everyone. i have lots of anxiety in general and am always scared to try new things and to go to new places so this is a big scary step for me
